Kate Rowland

Kate Rowland Playful laser cut jewellery, made by hand in the UK. My work is inspired by films, tv shows and popular culture.

The pieces are designed to be playful, unusual and affordable without compromising on quality. I hand draw my designs before using a laser cutter to engrave the detail into wood.

Current scenes from my home as I make hundreds of little artist palette brooches for while my son either sleeps or watches Lego Star Wars. When I can’t get to my studio my studio chaos comes home with me! I first designed these in 2015… and still love making these 10 years later!! (😳 ten years 😳)

I need your help! I absolutely love making my charm hoop designs, I love how easy they are to change up, and these gold filled hoops are such good quality. I wear mine every single day. They’re easy to put in with a smooth hinge (no fiddling or making my ears swell!) and have lasted years of abuse with no damage. BUT. They have over doubled in cost price since I started designing these. The price increases all the time. I can’t keep updating my prices to match. So I’m not sure what to do without it eating into my (already ever decreasing) profits! Would you happily purchase hoops that were still well made, but with just a gold plating? Would you be more happy to purchase the charms on their own? Or would you prefer the price to be higher for a better quality item? Help a confused woman out 🙏

Also how cute are these Greek Amphora charms looking on my friend Bonnie? I’d love to take more modelled photos of my work this year!

I am so chuffed with this new collection of earrings! What started as a pleasing abstract sketch in my sketchbook of chaos has turned into a polished, refined design. With a lot of hard design work in between! As always, the simpler something appears, the more work it takes to get it right… so many edits to get the balance of shapes, colour and material choices, cutting tolerances… and my ongoing battle with gold leaf. There are also hidden structures inside the earrings so they move organically, but not a jump ring in sight! Yummmm

Find them in my shop, and available for wholesale now ✨

Hello and here is my attempt to join in with (taking bets on if I make it past week 1)

I’ve been designing jewellery for longer than I ever thought I’d get away with it for - almost 15 years! 🤘🏻

I love ancient history and mythology, and my jewellery has appeared in some incredible museum shops and galleries 🏛️

You’ll often find me on 8 wheels 🛼🛼 skating is my joy

I make all my jewellery from plywood and acrylic, I love to engrave illustrated detail and use gold leaf, too. I work in in Milton Keynes!

Making a living as a creative, self-employed parent is hard as f*!k. I had to stop myself going on a big rant about the world, capitalism, and how hard it all feels, despite benefitting from privilege. But I still absolutely love my job with all my heart. Never stop creating 🎨

My desk, in the midst of creative chaos last night. I always hit peak creative flow late afternoon into early evening, when Barney is getting impatient for a walk and dinner, and I have plans I’m looking forward to! It feels so good to have new ideas, to feel the sun again, to be moving onto new things, after a strange, fallow year.

The sun has shown us it still exists this weekend, and I am so grateful for it 🌞 please warm my cold bones, help us grow and dry the streets so I can skate outside!

My Helios Pearl earrings, designed for summer days but we all need that year round! Laser cut from acrylic and plywood, with hand inked detail, and a freshwater pearl bead. I’ll be taking these with me to my spring markets too (I’m at Makers Market March 22, spring markets April 11 and May 9+10!)

If you’d like to order something to arrive in time for Christmas, please don’t.

Only kidding. Kind of. But don’t order it on the 23rd because I wont even attempt to send it. I will be sleeping. If you want to collect an order instead of relying on the chaos of Christmas post then you can come to Milton Keynes and prise it from my frozen hands.

ps. if you live in the US, no.
