I like to use this ‘bridge’ method when soldering a bezel to a backplate as it enables me to ensure the backplate gets to soldering temperature without overheating the bezel!
The solder is placed either on the outer edge of the bezel (as per the video) or on the inner edge, the placement is dependant on the stone I am using and/or whether I am retaining the outer edge of the backplate in the final piece 🙂

This is an easy way of soldering a bezel or even a ring band- placing the solder under the join! The weight of the bezel or ring will clamp the solder in place preventing it from blowing away with the pressure of the torch or being knocked off by the flux bubbling. It’s also very visual, when the bezel drops down it means the solder has flown up into the join as it is no longer sitting on the solder!
