Hope you are all enjoying the long Easter weekend. Yesterday I found a stash of ATC blanks so decided to get back in the game after a longish break! I’ll build up a stash and then I’ll be in a position to trade again. :) Hopefully I can also be inspired by a few swaps!

Just back from a couple of days in London, and was lucky enough to stay virtually next door to the National Galleries :) Didn’t really have time to sketch this trip but did manage a couple of quickies, including one of a talented street performer who was performing in Covent Garden 👏🏻 Anyway here are some pics of my sketches plus some old masters in the National Gallery.

I was lucky enough to win a free place on Let’s Face it 2026 portrait course :) Here is my first portrait from week 1 an intuitive portrait drawn with no photo reference, she evolved naturally on the page from within my artist brain. Using charcoal and pastels, neither of which I’ve used properly for ages, a few years even. It felt good to play! Looking forward to more fun and portraits over 2026!

I’m not one for going out in the snow so I’ve spent my birthday afternoon playing with the oil paints again! I used a seagull reference photo by Anja on pixibay as my inspiration.

Being playing with water soluble oil paints for the first time painting this self portrait. Not sure about the portrait, I might soften the eyes. But I do love the oils, just need to practice some more to get used to them, which is one of my art goals for 2026.
