Inspiration is there, but it has to find you working. ࿐

I’ve been dreaming of this piece for months. I started working on it in March, then put it aside as I was travelling again throughout the summer.

Inspired by my everlasting love for the ocean and one of my favourite patterns in nature, the mushroom coral🪸🍄

There’s something about its shape that feels almost otherworldly to me.

An ocean relic ࿐ that feels more than an adornment to me.

Something to be treasured, lived in, and perhaps passed down through generations. A heirloom piece carrying its own stories.

I sublimate.

I used to osmose,
but I don’t do that anymore.

Every piece we make passes through the hands of actual people…slowly, carefully, one piece at a time.

We work on a small scale.

We don’t mass produce.

There are no sweatshops.

No child labour.

And no one should have to sacrifice their wellbeing so that something can be made cheaply.

The people I work with are paid fair, honest wages and work reasonable hours in proper working conditions.

So when you look at the price of something handmade, I hope you can also see what’s behind it:

The hours.
The hands.
The skill.
The materials.
The people.

I could make things cheaper.

But not without asking someone, somewhere, to pay the difference.

And that’s not the kind of brand I want to build.

Festival season is coming to a close for me, and with that, I’m ready to return to my workshop and hide away a little to create again.

Before I leave Europe, I won’t have another event where you can meet me in person. My summer feels full and complete, and I’m getting ready for the next months of creation process.

I’ll try to post all the remaining pieces I have with me before I depart, so I can send them via European shipping rather than intercontinental.
