Using wood after metal feels as smooth and soft as butter. I've always enjoyed using a combination of both, but never really thought of purely using wood for a piece of jewellery. That is until I got to experiment on a beautiful log of cherry - which resulted in something simple yet surprisingly pretty.

The idea of using a non-conventionally valuable material to create something precious has always attracted me. Something that one person might find worthless could hold an immense sentimental value to another. 

Take these tiny pendants for example: 

One encases the insect chitin I collected from various trips and hikes, reminding me of the sweet memories that are connected with them.

The other holds gravel from the garden of my childhood home, so that I can always have it close in case I ever again felt homesick.

Lastly and arguably the most prized of the three, the turquoise represents both a massive milestone in my life and an homage to friendship, its twin worn by one of my closest friends.
