Silver Talkies is a community-led platform for people aged 55+.Our goal is to empower young-at-heart seniors and help then lead healthy, active, engaged lives. We do this through events, workshops, trainings and our content platform, www.silvertalkies.com- a hub for all topics around positive ageing. Our goal is to empower older adults to find new friends, discover new interests, stay healthy and get access to a meaningful support system so they can be inspired to live their best lives. Some memories don’t need a photo album. One glimpse of an old TV, a familiar face or the opening notes of a programme — and suddenly, you’re right back there.

Before streaming, before remotes, when the whole family (and sometimes the neighbours!) gathered around one television.

From adjusting the antenna to waiting for Chitrahaar, Buniyaad, Hum Log and Sunday movies and the familiar faces who became part of our evenings.

Our community remembers it all.

Our members spent the day at Nrityagram, getting a glimpse of performance rehearsals, exploring the beautiful campus and taking in its art, architecture and natural surroundings.

And, of course, we ended the day the best way — over lunch, conversations and plenty of laughter at Our Native Village Resort.

Kolkata during Durga Puja is something you have to experience. ❤️

Last year, we explored Bengal together. This year, we’re returning to the heart of Kolkata for six days of festivals, heritage, culture, food and stories.

From vibrant pandals and historic Bonedi Bari homes to Kumartuli’s artisans, a Hooghly River cruise, Bengali food, music and plenty of adda - there’s a lot to discover.

And the best part? Experiencing it all with a small group of curious, like-minded 55+ travellers.

Last year, Bengal gave us memories we’ll never forget. ❤️

This year, we’re returning to experience Durga Puja in Kolkata.

Six days of spectacular pandals, heritage homes, idol-making traditions, Bengali food, music, culture and plenty of adda.

But most importantly, six days spent with a small group of curious, like-minded 55+ travellers.

At 83, Urmila Ghorpade isn’t slowing down. She’s simply finding new ways to keep going. ❤️

When COVID interrupted her singing classes, she learnt to use a smartphone so she could join online bhajan sessions. When competitive badminton was no longer possible, she found her way to pickleball and bowling. And when getting onto a bus became harder, she learnt to ask for a little help—not to stop travelling.

Five Silver Talkies trips later, she still has places to go, people to meet, songs to sing and new things to try.

Because ageing may change what we can do. It doesn’t have to change our willingness to do it.

Here’s to staying curious, staying connected and always having something to look forward to. ✨

Pickleball, but with a little extra care. 🏓❤️

On 22nd August, our Silver Talkies members came together for a day of pickleball, movement, laughter and a little friendly competition - in partnership with Age Stronger

The excitement was high, but so were the concerns about staying safe while playing. So, we had a physiotherapist with every team someone to have their back while they played.

That little bit of extra support gave our members the confidence to move, play and enjoy the game without worry.

And they had so much fun, they’ve already asked us to do it again! 😄

Because at Silver Talkies, taking care of our community is always part of the game.
