Started with immense passion by four friends & fashion enthusiasts way back in July 2014, Exchange Room is a fun social gathering among friends and fashion-lovers sharing similar tastes with the main intention of exchanging fashionable items of clothing, accessories and breathing new life into their wardrobes with coveted items. We want to bridge the gap between fast fashion and slow fashion by in

troducing fellow women to swapping and shopping great quality pre-loved items. Exchange Room believes in and is here to solve the usual problems which we women face such as-

-A wardrobe full of stuff, yet nothing to wear
-How to find a new home for those pieces we once loved wearing and are too dear to donate
-What to do with the stuff bought in a sale and never worn
-How to declutter the wardrobe & home while getting something in return
-Have multiple holiday plans but no more new outfits
-Changing sizes often, etc

How do our events work? Its simple-
- Swappers will first register with us for the event (DM us for details)
- You could drop off your items before the deadline for each event.
-The curation team then selects, curates and gives each exchanger their points.
-The exchanger comes on the event day and shops her points.
-Meanwhile, you could also come shop with us and buy great, barely used branded products at throw- away prices, even if you have nothing to swap.
-This way, we keep the retail therapy going, while keeping fashion circular & contributing lesser to our carbon footprint.
-Items that do not find a loving home in one event are upcycled for the next event or donated responsibly. So if you like what you see,send us a message or e-mail and join us to become a SWAPaholic!

Meet our third cofounder Sangeetha Mari, the original fashionista! Shop her Closet this Saturday, 31st August ! 💃🏻

Sangeetha has been a financial analyst with HP for the past 20 years with a myriad of roles in financial planning and analysis. Her true passion though, is Badminton🏸 She pursues an active career in the sport - competing in national & international level masters tournaments representing India 🇮🇳
“ Growing up I always knew I would end up connected to fashion in some small way or the other” she says. Some of her other passions include travel, fitness and sport science.

Co-founding Exchange Room was nothing less than an epiphany. I must admit “I’m that girl with a closet full of clothes and nothing to wear. I love fashion and staying on trend but that also means a lot of waste. Exchange Room was an opportunity to educate myself on mindful buying choices and it gives me immense joy when my things find a new home.” Her generosity and love for fashion is what fuelled our imaginations!

We owe the magic of Exchange Room to a long friendship & a true love for fashion & sustainability. The event is finally TOMORROW! And we can hardly wait to celebrate the 10 years! 🥂❤️

Meet our cofounder Prithvi Rao and Shop her Closet this Saturday, 31st August ! 👀

Prithvi is a fashion designer & trend forecaster and has a passion for observing international & Indian trends, lifestyles, cultures. With a long experience in creative direction and brand building, she has also been a part time educator with top design schools in Bangalore including her Alma mater - NIFT.

While she’s not doing all these fashion things, she loves singing, music, yoga and dreams of moving to Goa 🌊🏖️

Co-founding Exchange Room was cathartic for her she says. And aren’t we really glad that happened! 🥹 She always goes an extra mile, her guidance and support has meant a lot to many of us through this journey ❤️❤️❤️

Sangeet , an alumnus of NIFT and IIM Bangalore, is a dreamer, vintage lover & globe trotter. She has a passion for creating beautiful spaces and has been an entrepreneur for over 17 years and likes to call herself a Creativepreneur ❤️
She is also the founder of Soda by Sai Sangeet Paliwal, a fashion interiors brand, launched in 2007… Many of her designs have even adorned celebrity homes… ask her about it when you meet her! 🫠

A giver of warm hugs & a nomadic soul at heart, she’s been an intrinsic part of shaping Exchange Room’s journey in the past 10 years. Thank you Sangeet, for all that you do ! 🫶

💥Pls read!

The past couple of years have been quite a challenge for us! Our small sustainable business used to rely on hosting large-scale events. The pandemic changed the world. And like many other small businesses, it impacted us too. Trying to host events that provide the level & quality of experience we always strive for and you’ve been accustomed to, while following covid safety protocols has been taxing and nearly impossible.

While we were waiting for things to get better, we did go online. Honestly , it just was not as joyful and rewarding to us co-founders. We missed what we love & cherish the most - personal interaction with you guys during our events, while nurturing a sustainable fashion ecosystem!

This situation made us pause, re-think.
We at Exchange Room, after much deliberation and with a heavy heart, have decided to take an indefinite break ♥️

Our journey from 2014 to 2022 has been nothing short of eventful. Being one of the first to have hosted swap events in India, to meeting each of you, building friendships, having saved about 15000 or more pieces of clothing from landfills, having hosted 20+ events and 20+ online drops, to having so many newspapers & magazines talking about us, our hearts are so FULL.

We are so happy to see the evolution of sustainable fashion in India. We are ever grateful to our wonderful and amazing community for all the love and support you have shown us over the years. You’ve made our journey so special and we value each one of you! :)

We will be hosting two final offline events this year and have 2-3 online drops coming up on the shop page too. We encourage all of you to utilize your points OR gift your points and take home some pre-loved goodies to cherish and relove !

Sustainable fashion and Exchange Room has been a passion for us cofounders and will always remain so. Who knows, we may restart it one day ;) But for the time being, its time to move on to our other passions, holding in our hearts this beautiful space we have created.
