Tribute to a Visionary Legend

Nearly a century ago, Coimbatore was widely known for its cotton mills, largely operated by the Naidu community. During that period, the Komutti community (a sub-sect of Arya Vysyas ) lived in small numbers and remained economically backward in this region.
At such a time, like a rising sun from the east, a visionary arrived from Palani to Coimbatore —
P.A. Raju Chettiar. When he migrated, he too began his journey with limited financial strength. However, through relentless hard work, integrity, courage, and visionary thinking, he rose to become a name recognized not only across Tamil Nadu but throughout India.
Inspired by the jewellery trade Soon, he established large-scale jewellery manufacturing in Coimbatore and began supplying beautifully crafted, lightweight ornaments to all parts of India — transforming Coimbatore into a major jewellery hub.
Beyond jewellery, his entrepreneurial excellence extended into cinema distribution, theatre ownership, and industrial ventures such as Surya Prabha cotton Mills. More importantly, his generosity and broad-minded vision uplifted countless families from our community, helping them grow economically and socially.
Not merely a businessman, he was a builder of opportunities, a mentor for generations, and truly a gem born in the Vysya Ananthakula lineage.
On this special day, 28th January, we proudly honor his legacy, express our gratitude, and celebrate the remarkable life that reshaped a community and inspired countless dreams.
