The Smithsonian’s National Museum of Asian Art has just unveiled a breathtaking new exhibition: “Of the Hills: Pahari Paintings from India’s Himalayan Kingdoms.”
Transporting us back to the royal courts of the 17th and 19th centuries, these centuries-old masterpieces are finally stepping out of the shadows. For the first time ever, many of these “unseen” treasures are on public display, offering a rare look at the lyrical beauty of the Himalayan foothills.
