Just spent a week in Kansas at the GRS Tools training center to take a class with master engraver Sam Alfano… what a great week!

What I made during my Halstead Jewelry Supplies Artist residency. I experimented making some different styles of settings and prepared samples for next year’s Metalsmiths in Florence Workshop workshops. I had a blast at Halstead and around Prescott, Az during July…heat and all!

While here in Prescott, AZ for the Halstead Jewelry Artist Residency… I got to connect with an amazing engraver, Louis Klein. He’ll be coming to my Metalsmiths in Vicenza workshop with Gary Roe in September. We then did a bit of the traditional “Whisky Row” here in town!

We're super excited to welcome our first ever resident artist to Halstead! Monica Cardone is a jeweler, founder of both Metalsmiths in Florence and Metalsmiths in Vicenza workshops, and lives half time between Italy and the U.S. - having studied with master goldsmiths in both places. She is a hopeless beachcomber and often works beach found objects into her jewelry designs.

Her goals for this residency are to focus on research and developing curriculum for future projects as well as creating more connections in the jewelry making community.

Monica will be hanging out with the Halstead crew and around Prescott for the month of July - a great month with all the fun things happening around town! Follow and tag along with her adventures this month 🌵
