This massive amethyst had an acceptable cut, but with ~45% head shadow, mediocre meet points, symmetry and polish, and an inclusion in the crown that the client wanted removed.

The recut was designed to solve all of these issues—not simply to improve the appearance.

The result: head shadow reduced from ~45% to just 15%, while light return increased by approximately 200%. The inclusion was completely removed, together with significant improvements in symmetry, meet points and polish.

Yes, the stone lost 121 CT.
But the goal of a recut is not to preserve weight at any cost.
It is to transform weight into performance.
