🇮🇹 “Prof, vuole fare due foto?”
Me lo hanno chiesto i miei studenti. Ragazzi tra i 16 e i 18 anni.
Ho accettato.
🇬🇧 “Miss, would you like us to take a few pictures of you?”
That's what my students asked me. They're between 16 and 18 years old.
I said yes. I let them take the camera, choose the angles, and decide how to portray me.
And these photographs are the result.
Whenever I hear that today's teenagers are lazy, incapable, or lacking creativity, I wonder if they're really the problem.
We demand initiative but want to control everything. We ask for creativity but reward obedience. We want them to have ideas, as long as those ideas match our own.
And then we call them a lost generation.
These photographs tell a different story. They reveal perspective, sensitivity, and the ability to see something I might never have noticed myself.
For once, I wasn't teaching them how to see. They were showing me how they saw me.
Maybe we should stop asking what young people lack and start asking how much room we're willing to give their talent.
Because talent doesn't always show up the way adults
