PEWTER BROOCHES FOR THE POORER CLASSES
In addition to the brass and bronze brooches in use throughout the Late Middle Ages, brooches made of tin alloys were also common, perhaps intended for a less affluent social class.
Here we have reconstructed three examples based on finds discovered across Europe and described in one of the most interesting books on medieval accessories, *Dress Accessories 1150–1450*, by Geoff Egan and Frances Pritchard, published by the Museum of London.
We have made the brooches larger than the originals to make them more practical for re-enactors.
