Dominican Republic, the home of Larimar, a mineral found exclusively in the mountainous regions of the southwestern parts of the country. Renowned for its captivating Caribbean Sea coloration, Larimar is believed to promote calmness, healing, and peace. During a recent trip, unfortunately, I couldn’t find any Larimar for purchase to make jewelry. Instead, I had the amazing time hanging out with squirrel monkeys!

I’m really excited be vending at this market on Sunday 3/8 in Wilmington NC. It’s a really quaint old historic venue on the waterfront. Stop by for beer, wine and shop some amazing arts and crafts for some very talented local artists! Hoping for spring weather!!

This Fordite Pendant went off to its new home this week. I created this custom necklace with a blue Fordite cabochon. Usually I can only find them in red. If you look closely you can see how vivid and sparkling the paint colors are. I'm sure going to miss this piece. If you are interested in a custom design, please reach out to me.

Fordite, also known as Motor City agate, is formed from the layers of automotive paint that has built up on skids on which cars and particularly Jeeps were spray-painted at the factory in Detroit.

For the next year, I want to start working on something a little different. Mica is a material that is mined in the NC mountains. It’s abundant where I live. Thin and transparent, sometimes with interesting inclusions, it can be used to make jewelry and lampshades. That is precisely what I intend to experiment with in the coming months. I’m excited to start sharing pictures of what I come up with!
