We were truly delighted to welcome so many customers during the pre-opening period. Thank you very much for your support.

To commemorate the opening, we will be releasing a special model featuring a Japanese lacquer dial.

Limited to just 200 pieces per colour worldwide, the Japanese Urushi lacquer edition of the Sombrero 90-011. Would you make one part of your collection?
 
Available from Friday, May 1st at 11:00 AM JST, at our Omotesando store, Kyoto flagship store, and online.
*Orders placed via our online store will begin shipping sequentially from May 7th.
 
刷毛 / Hake, defined by bold brush-applied lacquer layers, where visible strokes and rich translucency reveal depth, as fine pearl powder subtly emerges from beneath the lacquer.
 
罅 / Hibi, defined by organic crackle patterns formed through a natural reaction, revealing a uniquely textured dial where no two are ever alike.
 
Each dial is hand-coated by Urushi artisans in Uji, Kyoto using traditional techniques.

刷毛で幾重にも塗り重ねられた漆により、筆致の表情と奥行きのある透明感を表現。下層に施されたパール粉が、さりげなく奥行きを引き立てます。
 
罅 / Hibi
乾燥工程における自然な反応によって生まれる罅（ひび）模様が、有機的で唯一無二の表情を生み出します。
 
すべての文字盤は、京都・宇治の漆職人によって、伝統技法を用い一つひとつ手作業で仕上げられています。

A Japanese lacquer dial model - the first of its kind for KUOE KYOTO - each piece meticulously handcrafted one by one by skilled lacquer artisans in Uji, Kyoto.

No two patterns are ever the same, offering a truly one-of-a-kind timepiece.

The Sombrero 90-011 漆 Urushi Japanese Lacquer will be released at 11:00 a.m. (JST) on Friday, May 1, in celebration of the opening of our Omotesando store in Tokyo.

It will be available in two dial variations, each limited to 200 pieces. Please note that there are no plans for restocking once sold out.

The watches will be on display from April 25 at both our Omotesando store and Kyoto flagship store.

Hand-coated one by one in Uji, Kyoto by skilled Urushi artisans using traditional Japanese lacquer.

We are pleased to introduce a special edition of the Sombrero 90-011, the Japanese Urushi lacquer dial. Created to celebrate the opening of our Omotesando store in Tokyo, this is our first model with a lacquer dial.

Available from Friday, May 1st at 11:00 AM JST.

Offered in two colours, Hake (Red) and Hibi (Black), each limited to 200 pieces. Once sold out, they will not be restocked.

Available at our Omotesando store, Kyoto flagship store, and online.
*Orders placed via our online store will begin shipping sequentially from May 7th.

The models will be available for in-store viewing from April 25th.

– Hake:
By boldly applying multiple layers of Japanese lacquer with a brush, the distinct texture of the brushstrokes is brought to life. This technique reveals the depth of the layered lacquer beneath its rich translucency. The striking red tone, accentuated by these visible brush marks, expresses the depth created through layering with a modern sensibility.

– Hibi:
At a precise moment during the drying process, a natural protein is applied to react with the lacquer, creating organic crackle patterns. This delicate and inherently unpredictable expression ensures that no two dials are ever the same, resulting in a truly one-of-a-kind beauty. Reminiscent of fissures formed over time in the earth or the intricate patterns on a dried lakebed, the dial reveals new expressions each time it is worn.

- 刷毛(Hake):
幾重にも塗り重ねた漆の層を、刷毛で大胆に塗り込むことで刷毛目を際立たせ、深い透明感の奥から現れる漆の積層を美しく見せています。刷毛目が際立つ赤は、漆の層を重ねることで生まれる奥行きを、モダンな感性で表現しています。

- 罅(Hibi):
漆が乾くごく限られたタイミングを見計らい、天然のタンパク質を塗布することで漆と反応し、自然なヒビ模様を生じさせています。この繊細で偶然性を内包する表情は、同じものは二つとして存在せず、唯一無二の美を生み出します。まるで長い年月を経て生まれた大地の亀裂や、乾いた湖面に刻まれた自然の文様を思わせ、身につけるたびに新たな表情を見せてくれます。

With heartfelt gratitude, we are very pleased to share this news from KUOE KYOTO.

On May 1st, 2026, we will open our new store, located in Omotesando, Tokyo!

It has been exactly two years since we opened our flagship store in Kyoto. What began as a small workshop has grown over time, thanks to the continued support of everyone who has connected with our brand.

Opening a store in Tokyo has long been one of our goals. To take this step, and to share Kuoe Kyoto in a new place, is truly meaningful to us.

To mark this occasion, we are preparing a special limited edition model, available at the time of grand opening. Further details will be shared later.

We will also begin welcoming guests from April 25th, ahead of the grand opening. No reservation is required.

We hope this new space will offer more people the opportunity to experience KUOE watches in person.
