A custom made set of accessories….for myself! 🥰

Summer is my least favourite season, but one of the few good things about it is all the fun festivals, especially bon odori! I have a friend who is obsessed with bon odori, so every year we attend them dressed up in yukata.

I have a few yukatas that were given to me and some that I bought myself, but I didn’t feel connected to any of them in particular! . When my mom came to visit me in Japan during the new year this year, she took one of my 2-piece yukatas back to Thailand to use as a template. We chose the fabrics together online, then she used them to make me a new yukata with Thai motif and sent it to me! It came out so perfect! There is a shimmering gold spark in the fabric, which I love so much!

On this occasion, I also made earrings and a hair pin in Thai motifs to match the outfit.

🗻 2026 Fuji climbing season has started!🗻

Although I have been living in Japan for years now, the thought of climbing mount Fuji has never crossed my mind (and probably never will) because I have the same level of fitness as a caterpillar... 🐛

However, one of my friends from the knitting/crochet group has summited mount Fuji more than 10 times already. It has become a yearly thing for her to do. How cool is that!?

This year she also did it again successfully and it was a few days after her birthday, so I made a pair of mount fuji for her as a birthday gift. They turned out pretty nice so I plan to make them available at Crafty Cat too. Let’s see if tourists like it!

💬"'I don't need any more yarn!"💬...is a lie

If you knit or crochet, you probably know that it’s hard to stop yourself from buying more yarn even when you already have so much at home.

“I have an amazing idea for a new project, but none of the 50 balls of yarn I have at home is right for the job!”

We understand you completely, and we won’t judge. Life is hard and you deserve all the pretty yarn in the world.

🎆 Your very own fireworks 🎆

Last year, we, the human employees of “Crafty Cat” planned to go see a few firework shows but they all got cancelled due to bad weather… (The feline managers was happy to be home 😺😺)

So this year we’re totally prepared! We hope to see some beautiful fireworks this year, but if that’s not possible….we will still have little firework shows right next to our ears!

去年、「Crafty Cat」の人間スタッフたちは、いくつかの花火大会を観に行く予定だったのですが…悪天候で、すべて中止になってしまいました…（猫の管理職たちは、お家にいられて満足そうでしたが 😺😺）

そんなわけで、今年は準備万端です！今年こそ美しい花火が見られますように。でも、もし見られなかったとしても…私たちには、耳元で楽しめる小さな花火がありますから！

💦☔️Teru Teru Bozu : a good luck charm to ward off rain

Don't you hate it when the rain dampens your day out plan?

If hanging a Teru Teru Bozu outside of your window is still not enough, how about bringing a mini portable one with you when you go out?

Maybe being closer to the source of power makes it more effective?!

窓の外にてるてる坊主を吊るすだけじゃ物足りない…そんな時は、ミニサイズのてるてる坊主を持ち歩いてみるのはいかがでしょう？

パワーの源が近くにある方が、効果も上がるかも…？！

🟣Hydrangea Obidome 🟣

This year hydrangeas are arriving a bit early in Tokyo, aren’t they?

We have restocked the hydrangea items with some new colors and new types of items.

To tell you the truth, obidome are fun to make because they are a little bit bigger than our other items, therefore we can add more details to the pieces.

Unfortunately, there is limited space at our current sale locations, so we rarely put them on display. But we still make them as custom orders when someone expresses interest.

It would be nice if we could find the right place with plenty of room to also show more obidome, so that we can keep making more with new designs! 🤩

─ ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ─ Red Pandas were the….original pandas? 😮─ ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ─

Recently, I’ve learned something interesting while looking up information about red pandas online to make my items more accurate.

Did you know that red pandas were originally called pandas?

They were discovered about 50 years before the black and white pandas that we know of, and were given the name “Panda” which came from the Napali word of Ponya, meaning “bamboo eater”

Later, black and white bears that looked like a bigger version of the original pandas were discovered, so they named the new ones “Giant Pandas” and the original ones “Lesser Panda” from their smaller size, or “Red Panda” from their brownish red color.

After learning that, I felt really sorry for them!
Not only that their name was taken over by more popular relatives, their “lesser panda” name also has a sense of inferiority. That’s so unfair!

That is why I plan to keep making more red panda brooches. I’ll spread the cuteness of this animal until they get all the popularity they deserve!

Let’s do our best together, Red Panda-chan! 🐾
