💜It’s May! Iris flowers are arriving soon! 💜

Up until now, we have never made any items with an iris flower theme because our artist had never seen them up close. (Still hasn’t. Waiting to see the real thing later this month) Irises usually grow in a pond, a little bit further away from the walking path, so it’s hard to get a good look.

However, because a good friend of hers said that she really wanted a pair of iris earrings, our artist took a leap of faith and gave it a try anyway.

The first attempt was mostly to figure out if the structure was strong enough. The second attempt (The one in the picture) incorporated some colors. It still feels not quite right yet, but there is still time to make improved versions of them, while also trying to restock other popular items before design festa.

Having loving friends really helps with creativity, doesn’t it?

Friends believe in you, even when you don’t believe in yourself. They also celebrate your success, even if it’s a small win that you yourself just dismiss. I wouldn’t have been able to come this far without the support of kind people around me. Thank you! 🙏

✨ Display renewal at Neko-en ✨

It has been over a year since we first put our display at 保護猫カフェ【浅草ねこ園】 Rescue Cat Cafe "Asakusa Nekoen", so it's time for a refresh!

We repainted the peg board and swapped out old hooks for new ones. Now everything looks fresh and new again!

The emptier the display gets from items being sold the more the beautiful field of grass can be seen! ♪

A part of the sales of our cat themed items here goes directly to the cat rescue to help with operating costs and to make the cats there even more comfy! 😻

Everybody here is working hard to build their beach body….including our newest addition to the team, the muscle cat! 💪😼

Last year after debuting the muscle bunny and the muscle bear, we received requests from many customers to make a cat version too. Finally , here he comes!

So many muscles in one place it's dizzying! 😵‍💫

As the sakura season comes to an end, it’s time to look forward to wisteria! 💜

There haven't been any wisteria items from "Crafty Cat" until now because the artist was not confident that she could make ones since she had never seen them up close.

However, when her mom came to visit during the new year, the whole family went to Ashikaga Park. Even though it was in the middle of winter and the wisteria flowers she saw were just light decorations, it made an impression and gave her the push to finally try to capture those beautiful memories. 😊

The wisteria collection will debut at Tokyo Handmade Marche this upcoming Sunday! Some items shown here are already spoken for, but we will make more items by the event. Please come take a closer look if you’re interested!

Our artist finished a few more pieces just in time for Nyan Fes!

This necklace represents how introverted vendors feel during markets.

"I'm scared of talking to people but I will do my best, meow!" 🙀

We will be at booth no. D-10 at Nyanfes until 4 pm today. Please come hear the cat's inner scream~

😻 The “Neko ni sukareru” Omamori 😻(“Liked by cat” Good luck charm) is one of the long running items of Crafty Cat!

Do they “work”? 🤔

It depends on many factors, such as the mood of the masters (the cats) on that particular time of that day.

Our biggest customer claimed that it helped her become popular with the cats at 保護猫カフェ【浅草ねこ園】 Rescue Cat Cafe "Asakusa Nekoen" !

Nevertheless, one thing we can say for sure is that all the omamori have been blessed personally by the paw 🐾 of Xena-san, the president of Crafty Cat. What an honor!

This Sunday we will have a booth at Nyan Fes. There will be a lot of cool cat-themed items throughout the event. Please come take a look if you also love cats!

🌷Another type of flower joins the spring collection : Tulips! 🌷

After much trial and error, our tulips earrings are finally ready to be shown to the public! And by sheer luck, it happened to be on the same day that the real tulips we planted in the garden actually bloomed!

Because the Netherlands was where we (The manager and the artist) met, spent our young adult years together and started “Crafty Cat”, tulips will always hold a special place in our hearts. No matter where life may lead us, we want to bring little pieces of keepsakes with us. 🥰

Crafty Cat Pop-Up Shop @ Design Festa Gallery (Harajuku)

For 4 weeks, some of our items will be displayed for sale on the wall inside Design Festa Gallery, West building 1st floor, in Harajuku!

This time we added a lot of new spring themed items. Including our beloved sakura and pansy flower accessories!

Throughout the month, we plan to restock the products often, so you might find something new if you visit more than once.

Note : Because it’s an unmanned exhibition, please bring the items to pay at the gallery’s cashier.

🌸 Renewal of our Sakura collection from 2023!🌸

Growing as an artist comes from always exploring new ways to bring recurring concepts to life, some of which hold a special place in our hearts.

These Sakura flowers set against a bright blue sky were first released back in the spring of 2023, and they were very well loved. We have decided to bring some of them back this year!

Ideally we would like to make more of them and make sure that we always have them in stock, but the clay required for this project is currently a bit too soft, making it tricky to work with right now. There’s still some time left until our market season starts. We hope we can improve the condition of the clay and have more pieces made by then.

Spring is arriving…and so is hay fever!! 🌲😵

Our artist didn’t have hay fever before arriving in Japan, but unfortunately after living here for a while, she became allergic to pollen. And it seems to get worse and worse every year.

To prevent other people from thinking that she is sick with a virus, she would wear a handmade badge that let people know that the sneezing, the watery eyes and the coarse voice are caused by hay fever, not a contagious disease. 😷

This year a few extra “It’s Hay fever!” badges will be made for some of our markets.
If you think they could be useful, please stop by to get one!
