SEEK TO KNOW THE MIND AND THE WILL OF GOD
1Corinthians 2:9 But as it is written, "Eye has not seen, nor ear heard," nor has it entered into the heart of man, "the things which God has prepared for those who love Him."
10 But God has revealed them to us by His Spirit; for the Spirit searches all things, yea, the deep things of God.
11 For who among men knows the things of a man except the spirit of man within him? So also no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God.
12 But we have not received the spirit of the world, but the Spirit from God, so that we might know the things that are freely given to us by God.
13 These things we also speak, not in words which man's wisdom teaches, but which the Holy Spirit teaches, comparing spiritual things with spiritual.
The Holy Scriptures have many references to the Mind of God. Therefore, God has a mind and a Will. Now, it goes without saying that all genuine children of God should have deep interest in knowing the mind of God because that is the only way to understand Him and His expectations for us. It is important to note that God is so great that no man can have capacity to fully understand Him. However, we can strive to have a glimpse so that we can walk in His ways.
The opening scriptures above state that the Spirit of God searches the deep things or the mind of God. This implies that one key way to know the mind of God is to embrace His Spirit (Holy Spirit), Who is freely given to believers. Therefore, walking in the Spirit can help us in a big way to understand the Mind of God. But, it is notable that God’s thoughts are far above human thoughts.
Isaiah 55:8 For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor your ways My ways, says the LORD. 9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts.
Key facts to note about the mind of God are:
• He has good thoughts for humanity. He created us in His image, and He loves us. That is why He came up with the plan of redemption after man sinned and God separated from Him. Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.
• His thoughts are much higher than our human thoughts as we have seen in Isaiah 55:8-9 above. So, no man can purport to be near or equal to God. He sees things differently and solves problems in the ways we least expect.
• His wisdom and knowledge are beyond human understanding. Romans 11:33 Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and His ways past finding out! That means we can rely on Him to give us wisdom and knowledge for every challenge we need to navigate.
• By relying on the Holy Spirit, we can have limited access to God’s Mind, as we saw in the opening scriptures above.
Now, coming to talk about God’s Will, the Bible has much to say about it. We can look at it in two ways:
1. God’s Will for all humanity. This is revealed by His meticulous plan for the redemption of the human race from satanic bo***ge so as to restore the broken relationship. 2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance. This is the basis of the Great Commission by our Lord Jesus Christ to preach to the whole world. Matthew 28:18 And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.19 "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
2. God’s personal Will or destiny for every person. The universal Will can only be fulfilled if every person plays His or her predestinated role. No person is on earth by mistake or accident. Every person has a special and unique God-assigned purpose. However, this purpose is not obvious. One has to seek God to understand it. Romans 12:2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. Mind renewal is key to one discovering his or her purpose. This is because the devil does all he can to cloud our minds with selfishness and self-demeaning thoughts as we grow up. How to discover this personal will of God is a topic for another day.
I pray and trust that we shall all strive to understand God’s Mind and His divine will for us corporately and individually. This will go a long way in helping us live more meaningful and fulfilling Christian lives.
I wish you a blessed day and a God-seeking week ahead. Shalom.

SECRETS OF FRUITFUL WALK WITH GOD
Genesis 5:21 And Enoch lived sixty-five years and fathered Methuselah.
22 And Enoch walked with God three hundred years after he fathered Methuselah. And he fathered sons and daughters.
23 And all the days of Enoch were three hundred and sixty-five years.
24 And Enoch walked with God, and then he was not, for God took him.
Walking with God can be defined as having a continuous intimate relationship with God whereby there is constant and unbroken relationship between the believer and God. It involves making a deliberate effort to know His will for you and surrendering to that will unconditionally. Communication with God becomes deep and intimate, whereby one tarries enough in God’s presence to listen and understand what God is saying. It is characterized by absolute faith in God and seeking to do what pleases Him daily.
In the opening scriptures above, an outstanding example of an ordinary man walking with God is given. If you read Genesis 6, you will realize that Enock lived at a time when people were very sinful. It was a lonely path he chose to follow. There was nothing extraordinary about him. He was a family man with a wife, sons and daughters. He worked hard to care for his family just as we do. But he chose a path of walking with God intimately. This shows clearly that any person can deliberately choose to walk with God or not. Your daily occupation and family commitments can never be an excuse. It is a matter of making a choice of choosing God above all other things.
Allow me to say that it is easy to say but fully living for God is far more than mare words. Many people say it but never live it. As a believer, know that partial walk with God may become frustrating and self-defeating. It is a wise decision to fully surrender to God and walk with Him in true sincerity. That is what brings the desired fruits of our Christianity.
Some of the important points to be noted in this godly spiritual walk are as follows:
1. Have a great desire to know God deeply and desperately. History has proved that God is always available to those who become desperate to find Him. Jeremiah 29:13 And you shall seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart. God was telling the exiled Jews that He could be found by only those who were serious enough. This fact has never changed. God is really found by those who are serious enough to make necessary commitments and sacrifices to this effect.
2. Put God’s interests above your personal interests and ambitions. Having personal goals in life is a noble thing. However, when one chooses to seek to know the will of God for his/her life, they should be willing to surrender personal goals and ambitions to the extent that they are inconsistent with God’s will. Human will can be selfish, seeking self-gratification. On the contrary, God’s will is about serving others, showing them His love. It will be hard for anyone unwilling to give up some personal ambitions to fully walk with God. John 12:24 Truly, truly, I say to you, Unless a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it abides alone; but if it dies, it brings forth much fruit. 25 He who loves his life shall lose it. And he who hates his life in this world shall keep it to life eternal. These words of Christ show that walking with God is sacrificial.
3. Having absolute faith and trust in God. God rarely reveals the path to follow fully. He gives occasional indications and direction. Abram was called to follow God into a land He would show him. Walking with God means walking by faith in Him. You do not always get answers to your questions, You humbly follow, trusting that He is taking you to your desired destiny. Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not to your own understanding. You can't walk with God if you insist on knowing everything in advance. It is a journey of faith.
4. Humility and obedience are key. One must be humble enough to fully surrender to God. An unyielded soul will always tend to have his/her own way and often conflict with God. Also, God expects us to fully and unconditionally obey Him whenever He gives command. King Saul lost the kingdom for violating this vital requirement. 1Samuel 15:22 And Samuel said, Does the LORD delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice! To listen is better than the fat of rams! 23 For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idol-worship. Because you have rejected the word of the LORD, He has also rejected you from being king! If you cannot obey without understanding, forget to have a meaningful walk with God. This is because God will at times give instructions which seem contrary to our human understanding. Bringing in our reasoning to ‘help’ God can be disastrous.
Following God in a humble and sincere walk is key to fruitfulness and joy in our Christian lives. Many believers are suffering and paining because they are not ready to fully surrender to God and walk with Him in a fully yielded humility. Let us all have a meeting with ourselves and carefully evaluate our walk with God, see our pitfalls and be willing to make the necessary amends. May God help us as we take the necessary steps to make our walk with God better.
I wish you a blessed day and a God-seeking week ahead. Shalom.

UNDERSTANDING THE NATURE AND CHARACTER OF GOD
Psalms 145:3 Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised; And His greatness is unsearchable.
8 The LORD is gracious and full of compassion, Slow to anger and great in mercy.
9 The LORD is good to all, And His tender mercies are over all His works.
13 Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, And Your dominion endures throughout all generations.
14 The LORD upholds all who fall, And raises up all who are bowed down.
15 The eyes of all look expectantly to You, And You give them their food in due season.
16 You open Your hand And satisfy the desire of every living thing.
17 The LORD is righteous in all His ways, Gracious in all His works.
18 The LORD is near to all who call upon Him, To all who call upon Him in truth.
19 He will fulfill the desire of those who fear Him; He also will hear their cry and save them.
Most, if not all, people acknowledge the existence of a Supreme Being (God) who is the creator and sustainer of life. A good relationship with God is the key to a good life here on earth and in the afterlife. Understanding nature and the character of the Supreme Being is therefore important because it will give one insight into how to cultivate a meaningful relationship.
The opening scriptures above give a glimpse of some of the attributes of God. I say a glimpse because God is limitless, and no human mind is capable of fully understanding His character. Let’s delve deeper into some of them:
1. God is so great that His greatness is unsearchable. Astronomers continue discovering the vastness of the universe and its well-organized architecture. A God who created and sustains such a wonderful universe is indeed greater than any human comprehension. David got this revelation when he wrote; Psalms 8:3 When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, The moon and the stars, which You have ordained, 4 What is man that You are mindful of him, And the son of man that You visit him? This revelation is important in instilling humility in anyone who seeks to approach God.
2. God is all-powerful. This is a basic understanding of the nature of God. This gives all who approach Him a sense of trust and faith in His power and ability to protect and provide. Jeremiah 32:17 'Ah, Lord GOD! Behold, You have made the heavens and the earth by Your great power and outstretched arm. There is nothing too hard for You.
3. God is holy and He hates sin. All scriptures point to a Holy, pure God who requires all people to live a righteous holy life just like Him. All people shall stand before Him to give an account of their lives on earth. He will punish sin and reward righteousness. Leviticus 19:1 And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, 2 "Speak to all the congregation of the children of Israel, and say to them: 'You shall be holy, for I the LORD your God am holy.
4. He is gracious and full of compassion. As human beings, no one can claim absolute purity or holiness. The Holy God, in His love and mercy, sent His beloved Son to redeem humanity from sin. Without His mercy and compassion, no person could be able to stand before Him. Psalms 130:3 If You, LORD, should mark iniquities, O Lord, who could stand? 4 But there is forgiveness with You, That You may be feared.
5. God is a defender of the oppressed. Anybody who takes advantage of, and oppresses the weak, such as the fatherless and the widows risks divine judgment from God. This attribute emanates from His loving and compassionate nature. Zechariah 7:9 "Thus says the LORD of hosts: 'Execute true justice, Show mercy and compassion Everyone to his brother. 10 Do not oppress the widow or the fatherless, The alien or the poor. Let none of you plan evil in his heart Against his brother.'
6. God is a provider to all living creatures on earth. As a sustainer of life on this planet, God created self-sustaining systems to ensure food and air supply. The water cycle ensures there is rain, the tilting of the earth on its axis as it revolves around the sun ensures there are seasons, living animals breathe oxygen and exhale carbon dioxide, while the plants do the opposite. All these natural systems ensure the sustainability of life perpetually on Earth. All this shows the ingenuity of God in his ability to sustain what He created.
7. God hears the prayers of those who call upon Him in truth. Although God is so great and His power unfathomable, He loves humanity so much that He hears and answers all prayers from a sincere and humble heart. Jeremiah 33:2 "Thus says the LORD who made it, the LORD who formed it to establish it (the LORD is His name): 3 'Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.' This is an open invitation from God to all humanity to call upon Him in prayer.
We cannot exhaust the list of the attributes of the Almighty God. My prayer for us is that we may all find it necessary to seek a fruitful relationship with God as we strive to know and understand Him more clearly.
I wish you a blessed day and a God-seeking week ahead. Shalom.

KNOWING GOD : BENEFITS
Job 22:21 "Now acquaint yourself with Him, and be at peace; Thereby good will come to you.
22 Receive, please, instruction from His mouth, And lay up His words in your heart.
23 If you return to the Almighty, you will be built up; You will remove iniquity far from your tents.
24 Then you will lay your gold in the dust, And the gold of Ophir among the stones of the brooks.
25 Yes, the Almighty will be your gold And your precious silver;
26 For then you will have your delight in the Almighty, And lift up your face to God.
27 You will make your prayer to Him, He will hear you, And you will pay your vows.
28 You will also declare a thing, And it will be established for you; So light will shine on your ways.
29 When they cast you down, and you say, 'Exaltation will come!' Then He will save the humble person.
30 He will even deliver one who is not innocent; Yes, he will be delivered by the purity of your hands."
Almost all humans are aware of a Supreme Being (God) who is the creator and sustainer of everything. For thousands of years, various civilizations have tried to relate to this Supreme Being in various ways. Many missed the way and ended up worshipping nature and lower spiritual entities (demons and fallen angels). People try to relate with God because there is a deep innate thirst for spiritual fulfillment in everyone. There is also a deep knowledge that relating well with the Supreme Creator comes with many benefits.
The opening scriptures above show some of the benefits associated with knowing God from a Biblical perspective. It starts with pinpointing that acquainting oneself with the Almighty will bring good to one’s life. The surest way to know Him is to receive His instructions and put them in the heart. Other benefits are as follows:
1. Empowerment: As we had discussed earlier, knowing the Almighty God is with you and backing you up will boost your confidence and faith. You will feel empowered to be successful in your endeavors. Daniel 11.32.
2. Protection: Being aware that the God of the whole universe is protecting you gives a great sense of security, eliminating all fears. This is profound for spiritual (faith) development. Psalms 91:2 I will say of the LORD, "He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust." 3 Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler And from the perilous pestilence. 4 He shall cover you with His feathers, And under His wings you shall take refuge; His truth shall be your shield and buckler.
3. Provision: God is a loving Father to those who know Him. He provides everything we need as we trust in Him. Recognizing God as our ultimate provider takes away worries. Psalms 34:10 The young lions lack and suffer hunger; But those who seek the LORD shall not lack any good thing.
4. Contentment and peace: Knowing God that God is on your side leads to a sense of contentment and inner peace. All worries and uncertainties melt away. Isaiah 26:3 You will keep him in perfect peace, Whose mind is stayed on You, Because he trusts in You.
5. Guidance: People can easily lose the right way and fall into satanic snares. Knowing God and allowing Him to guide you will keep you on the right path. Isaiah 30:21 Your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, "This is the way, walk in it," Whenever you turn to the right hand Or whenever you turn to the left.
6. Wisdom: Knowing God can equip people with wisdom because He is the source of all wisdom. Wisdom is a vital requirement for success in every area of life. Proverbs 2:6 For the LORD gives wisdom; From His mouth come knowledge and understanding;
7. Answered prayers: Knowing God intimately is key to answered prayers. This is because of knowledge of His Will and how to please Him and catch His attention. John 16:23 "And in that day you will ask Me nothing. Most assuredly, I say to you, whatever you ask the Father in My name He will give you. This is the assurance od God to those who know Him.
8. Authority: This is the ability to execute God’s works powerfully and convincingly. He can delegate this authority to only those who know Him. See Job 22: 28 above.
9. Physical well-being. This refers to enjoying divine healing and being free from diseases. Psalms 103:3 Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases.
We cannot exhaust the list of the benefits of knowing God. God is infinitely good and has great love for humanity. We all need to develop a burning desire to know Him more intimately.
I wish you a blessed day and a God-seeking week ahead. Shalom.

LEARNING TO UNDERSTAND AND WALK IN THE WAYS OF GOD 1

Psalms 25:4 Show me Your ways, O LORD; Teach me Your paths.
5 Lead me in Your truth and teach me, For You are the God of my salvation; On You I wait all the day.
6 Remember, O LORD, Your tender mercies and Your loving kindnesses, For they are from of old.
7 Do not remember the sins of my youth, nor my transgressions; According to Your mercy remember me, For Your goodness' sake, O LORD.
8 Good and upright is the LORD; Therefore He teaches sinners in the way.
9 The humble He guides in justice, And the humble He teaches His way.
10 All the paths of the LORD are mercy and truth, To such as keep His covenant and His testimonies.

All genuine children of God seek to know God better and walk with Him for victorious Christian life. This is because we all know that unless you know likes, dislikes, and expectations of someone, it is not possible to have a meaningful relationship. True Christianity is all about relationship with Christ. Prophet Amos pointed to this:

Amos 3:3 Can two walk together, unless they are agreed?

But how can a person agree with God if he/she does not know His ways? Moses, who was very close to God also sought to know the ways of God:

Exodus 33:13 "Now therefore, I pray, if I have found grace in Your sight, show me now Your way, that I may know You and that I may find grace in Your sight. And consider that this nation is Your people."

Moses had a revelation that the only way to know God was to know His ways and he petitioned God for it.

One of the main reasons why there is a lot of stagnation, frustration and failure in the lives of many believers is that they never take time to learn the ways of God. God is supreme. He has established laws and principles for His people to follow. He will not change His laws to suite us. It is us to seek to know them and walk in them.

The opening scriptures above were actually a prayer by king David, a man described to be a man after God’s own heart. We may learn some important truths in this prayer:

1. You need to petition God to show you His ways and teach you His paths. It is a Biblical principle that precious things of God are hidden and are to be sought and obtained by serious people. Our Lord Jesus demonstrated this principle by choosing to teach in parables. David knew this and he sincerely prayed to God to show him His ways. If David needed to do this, how much more for us today! You can only know God’s ways by making such particular prayers as David did. God will surely answer and reveal to you His wonderful ways. Jesus said He only actualized what His father did in the Spirit. John 5:19 Then Jesus answered and said to them, "Most assuredly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, but what He sees the Father do; for whatever He does, the Son also does in like manner.

2. You need to repent your sins so that you can be in tune with God. Although believers do not live in sin, there are some areas of struggles and failures. We are all instructed to quickly repent whenever we sin so that His blood can cleanse us. 1John 1:9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. We need to be sensitive in the Spirit so that whenever He alerts us of any sin, we can quickly repent. This is key to keeping our relationship with God alive.

3. You need to approach God with humility. The Bible teaches that God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble. James 4:6 But He gives more grace. Therefore He says: "God resists the proud, But gives grace to the humble." He will only guide and teach the humble His ways. Avoid going to God with a sense entitlement. Although we are sons and daughters, pride will keep God away from us.

4. You need to be keen to keep his testimonies and covenant. This calls for seriousness. God is not a joker. He will only act when He sees our deep hearted commitment to know Him and His ways. Jeremiah 29:13 And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.

As we conclude today’s teaching, my hope and prayer is that we shall become keen to know God’s ways and will be willing to make the necessary adjustments and sacrifices necessary for success in this cause.
I wish you a blessed day and a God-seeking week ahead. Shalom.

STRIVE TO BECOME SPIRITUALLY STRONG

Ephesians 3:14 For this reason I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
15 from whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named,
16 that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man,
17 that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love,
18 may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height--
19 to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.

The above prayers were inspired by the Holy Spirit for the church through apostle Paul. Having been inspired by the eternal Spirit, they are as relevant to us today as they were to the Christians then.
By closely examining these prayers, we can see that the main theme was for the believers to become strong in the spirit. This is particularly important because spiritual realm has much to do with what we experience in the physical realm. Actually, as believers, our greatest struggles for victory and success are spiritual, not physical.

Ephesians 6:12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.

Therefore, there is great need for every child of God to always strengthen him/herself in the spirit.

From these scriptures, we can learn to pray for spiritual strength as follows:

1. Pray to be made spiritually strong by His Spirit in the inner man. As you know, we are triune beings consisting of the body, soul and spirit. Our spirit is the inner man. The body naturally strives to rise over the spirit and control us. But the Bible instructs us to be more spiritually minded as a way of getting closer and harmonious with God who is Spirit. Romans 8:5 For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. 6 For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. We all need to seriously and persistently pray to be spiritually strengthened so that our spirit man can have power to control the fleshly desires which are naturally selfish and ungodly. This happens as we increasingly surrender to the Holy Spirit.

2. Pray (for awareness) that Christ continues to dwell in our hearts by faith. This is more to do with increased awareness of Christ indwelling us. By faith means not by emotions or feelings. By strongly believing that Christ is in us despite what we feel or experience, we are able arise in His power and overcome every hinderance in our spiritual walk. See John 14:23. Nothing can intimidate a spiritually aware believer.

3. Pray to be grounded and rooted in love and fully understand the love of Christ. Love is the key pillar in our Christian faith. Ability to love everyone is a true test of our being true believers. Inability to love is an indication of immaturity or spiritual problems in one’s life. 1John 4:7 Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. 8 He who does not love does not know God, for God is love. Understanding the reality of Christ love will help strength our faith in Him.

4. Pray to be filled with all the fullness of God. This should be the ultimate goal for every serious believer. Although this is God’s will for us all, the believer has to welcome and yield to the Spirit of God willingly for this to happen. 2Peter 1:4 by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. Serious prayer to this effect will demolish spiritual strongholds holding us back from achieving this goal.

As we conclude today’s lesson, my prayer is that we may be spiritually strengthened to enable us to overcome many hinderances that fight against our spiritual advancement in Christ Jesus.

I wish you a good day and a blessed week ahead. Shalom.
