Travel-Stained 안녕! I'm Shelley! A Korean Canadian mom, and Seoul expat. Come with me on a journey to hidden gems and amazing places in Korea!

I've lived here for the last 15 years, and it's my mission to explore all the wonderful off-the-beaten places in my motherland.

🌝 If you go to a Jeongwol Daeboreum event, you’ll likely have no idea what’s going on (I sure didn’t, the first time), but it’s something truly unique and unforgettable.

It’s celebrated on the 1st full moon after Seollal, so the event date changes each and every year.

Daeboreum events are happening all over Korea. They’re free, with no reservations required, and everyone is welcome.

💟 Things to do in Seongsu - the Brooklyn of Seoul. It’s more than just pop-ups and aesthetic cafes!

I went to Seongsu to pick up some Rejuall at the brand new Ready Young Pharmacy (because by now everyone knows that the most effective skincare is inside Korean pharmacies, right?) - but ended up wandering around.

I didn’t make it to a fraction of what I’ve got pinned on my Seongsu map. I definitely need to make at least a few trips back!

Go on a weekday morning if you’d like a little peace on the streets, and quieter cafes.

➡️ Comment SEONGSU, and I’ll pass on my bookmarked Naver map for the area.

🌸 March is the first month of spring in Korea, and travelers descend en-masse for cherry blossoms, and other spring flowers.

There’s a ton of advantages to visiting Korea in March:

🔹 It’s the quietest month of spring, so relatively less crowded than April or May.
🔹 Weather is incredibly comfortable, but you do have to watch out for yellow dust pollution.
🔹 Sansuyu, canola, plum blossoms, and cherry blossoms start blooming all over Korea.

🌼 My festival picks for March: Jeongwol Daeboreum, Jinhae Cherry Blossom Festival, Eungbongsan Forsythia Festival.

❄️ Winter in Korea means a trip to Gangwon-do, and we did exactly that last week.

🥶 From an ice cafe to huge snow sculptures to a snowy ski slope, we had a blast on what felt like the last winter trip, before cherry blossoms take over Korea. 🌸

💕 Want my itinerary? Comment WINTER for a rundown with links to where we went, what we ate, and what we saw.
