🦭💙 Our seals need us now more than ever.
I want to use this little pair of seal earrings to draw attention to something heartbreaking that is happening right now.

The WEC in Lauwersoog, home to the seal rescue centre formerly known as Zeehondencentrum Pieterburen, is facing an extremely serious financial crisis. On 12 October, the centre announced that it expects to file for bankruptcy within around two weeks if a solution cannot be found.

A financial gap of €2.8 million stands in the way of a proposed solution, and the consequences could be devastating. If the centre has to close before the next seal pup season, around 70 seals — including approximately 35 newborn pups — could be left without a place to receive the care they need. The people who work so hard to rescue and care for these animals, as well as important research and education, are also at risk.

This is why I’m sharing this today. 💙 These beautiful animals deserve a chance to recover and return to the sea, and the people caring for them need support to keep doing that work.
