Morena whanau .
Today we celebrate 1 year of Murihiku GAL 🥳
Its been a busy year of learning how to make many new putiputi and dye many bright beautiful colour's.
I've been at many different markets and met so many amazing people along the way as customers ,admirers as well as other creative stallholders.
Thankyou all for your love and support and encouragement . Its meant a lot and I appreciate everyone ive met along the way .
I've definitely learnt a lot and am still learning 💐.

I've loved putiputi every since I learnt from a beautiful kuia on the West coast named Hariata Murphy when my oldest child Ariana was a pre schooler ..
I used to take her up the road to seven mile where the harakeke grows so well. She showed me how to gather the harakeke and the tikanga around it . We would take a pile to our parent group at the preschool and she patiently taught us how to make putiputi . We did this many times, Till we all had mastered it . I've made so many over the last 20 years to give to people, and taught many children and adults .Its always such a pleasure to teach someone a new skill and also to give something you've made with love to someone ❤️ 💐
This year I plan to keep learning and move into more natural dyes as well which will be fun. You never know how the harakeke is going to take the colour and what colour it will turn . Its definitely not always what you expect which is the cool part .
I look forward to attending more markets and making custom orders for you .

To celebrate my first year this giveaway is different .
The person that wins gets to design what they would like, and pick the colour's.

‼️A few quick reminders to ensure a smooth and enjoyable day:

🚗 Traffic Alert: Tram Road will be VERY busy, so please drive slowly and be patient. Please follow the signage, and directions from the Men at Work team and our parent volunteers who are on traffic patrol and parking.

🤝 Kindness & Patience: This fair is run entirely by PARENT, TEACHER & COMMUNITY VOLUNTEERS who have put in an incredible amount of work to make it all happen. While we strive for a seamless experience, there may be areas that get crowded, and waiting might be necessary. Please be understanding and respectful – a little kindness goes a long way!

We're all doing our very best to make this day great, and we appreciate your support.

All set up at home today in our front yard with candyfloss , second hand boys clothes 2 bins of toys and my putiputi ,pounamu ,wind chimes .
Fundraising for Te kohas yr 8 school trip to China April 2026.
