A very boring “before”…! But 600 tulips into the chiller for forced vernalization (chilling!). It doesn’t get cold enough where we live in Hawkes Bay for tulip bulbs to flower properly so a 4-6 week stay in the chiller is the only way. Worth it for the late winter glow up - watch this space 💐

It’s been a wild and challenging 2.5 years on farm - cyclone recovery followed by 18 months (and counting!) of essentially drought conditions; throw a couple of busy kids and “real” job into the mix and I have absolutely neglected this page. But what the chaos has taught me is that you really do need to squeeze in the things that bring you joy and make your soul sing. For me, that’s all things pretty - flowers, garden, a divine table setting, cracker farm views - and I’m aiming to share a bit more here, as well as a few sneak peeks of some farm tourism we have bubbling away in the background 😉 thanks for sticking around 💕

A glorious HB winter’s day to be feeling all the gratitude 🙏🏻💚 … the digger has been here for 3 solid months clearing, cleaning and re-creating access, tracks, waterways and fence lines, and is nearly at the finish line (no small feat!); the fencing contractors are here this week and have delicious clear days to crack into it; and we are lucky enough to have two lovely volunteers all the way from Whitianga also helping to resurrect some stock-proof paddocks in preparation for pre lambing rotations and set-stocking (we went from 90 odd stock-proof paddocks to about 10 after the cyclone). We are eternally grateful to family, friends, our community, the wider farming whānau and industry for the kindness, generosity, support and love we have been shown 💚 I nearly feel sorry for the volunteers having to deal with me crying on them out of sheer overwhelm at the appreciation I feel. While we would never wish such a widespread and devastating disaster or experience like this on anyone, we do look forward to our opportunity to pay forward some of the selfless kindness we have received. And now, off to the yards to weigh (hopefully fat!) lambs. Enjoy the sun everyone ☀️💛

After a house and farm move amidst the Christmas chaos, we are finally beginning to settle into our rhythm on our new farm in Dartmoor, Hawkes Bay. While I have loved tapping in and out of Beamish Blooms over the last few years, the move to Manganoe Farm presents me with many other opportunities. This week we are set to welcome our first groups of farm stay guests, with a few other projects in the pipeline alongside that to come also. So! This page may look a little different from here - still flowers, lots of flowers!! But, also some accomodation, lots of gardening as I crack into yet another blank canvas, some on farm tourism, snippets of farm life, and whatever else I find to fill my days. I hope you’ll still follow along to see some blooms, but also to see what we’re getting up to as we try to diversify what happens at Manganoe farm. HAPPY NEW YEAR!! Here’s to a cracking 2023 🤩🥂🥳💐
