1957
Khadim Hussain Sheikh opened a fashion Jewellery store “Ruby Jewellers” in his hometown, Lahore, Pakistan. Havin
g spent many years working at Ghirdari Lal Jewellers before partition of sub-continent, he had absorbed the refined aesthetics of Muslim nobility, and introduced this sensibility in Jewellery business by offering exclusive art pieces created and produced by the master craftsmen.
1960’s
Within a few years, the label enjoys considerable success, as it attracts a sophisticated international clientele fond of the collection of master jewellery pieces that were inspired by the Mughal era, as proven by the floral and Islamic motifs. In time, these motifs became enduring symbols of the fashion house that was presenting increasingly innovative design aesthetics.
1970’s
Ruby Jewellers introduced products that were cherished by the most iconic figures of the time and became renowned for their timeless design. King Faisal and other dignitaries were presented the souvenirs by Government of Pakistan, made by Ruby Jewellers at the Islamic Summit Conference in 1971 held at Lahore, Pakistan.
1980’s
Ruby Jewellers continues its business expansion, faithful to the original aspirations of Sh. The company increases and diversifies production, carrying out significant research on new luxurious materials, with an innovative approach to design, never tilting the legendary quality and craftsmanship, synonymous with the brand. A new showroom in Lahore near the existing, was opened, still today the core of Ruby’s research, development and production activities. Here, the great classics were revamped in new shapes and colors, and new product categories introduced.
1990’s
Ruby was re-launched to global fame through a groundbreaking mix of tradition and innovation. Athar-ur-Rehman Sheikh became creative director in 1996, infusing the luxury brand with a sense of audacity and provocation that resonated with the worlds of celebrities and of the accomplished elite.
2000’s
Ruby Jewellers achieves astounding nation wide success and is named the most desirable luxury brand in Pakistan. Athar-ur-Rehman Sheikh, formerly Creative Director, is named CEO in 2006. Exploring Ruby’s rich heritage and its incomparable craftsmanship qualities, Sheikh creates a unique vision for the business that fuses past and present, history and modernity. Key house icons are reinvented in a fresh new guise, including the Flora, La Signature, and the New Bamboo. A new flagship store opens its doors in DHA, Lahore, Pakistan on October 4, 2011.
