Myrkra staðr

Myrkra staðr Myrkra Staðr is an artist & jeweller located in Sweden. Myrkra Staðr was born in a time of struggles.

In its essence is the truth of finding one’s inner strength when hope disappears, when darkness takes over. For there is no obscurity without light, there can be no light without darkness. This feeling of rebirth is the fire behind Myrkra Staðr’s creations. From it came the wish to explore one’s roots, culture, ancient practices. Myrkra Staðr aims to create a space of slowness, connected with the

seasonal cycle, a space
closer to the mythical times (as defined by M.Eliade)
A space against this current fast-paced world, emphasized on consumption. A space where one can escape from the rhythm of modern life and take time to connect within, to stand within.

The last few days were a whirlwind of emotions and love. I'm incredibly grateful to have met my soulmate 7 years ago and to finally be able to call him my husband ❤️
I have the most wonderful family in law and the greatest man I could ever dream of. We got to celebrate our love with our closest family and my dearest friend (and best maid of honor ever) . I am so grateful for the life I have and so full of love after these few days together 🥰

Business will come back as usual tomorrow, but today I'm enjoying my last day off with my husband .official ✨❤️

The crescent moon is a recurrent symbol in my work 🌒 there is something so beautiful in such a simple shape. A reminder of the cycles in our lives, the moon always waxes and wanes, lighting up our night skies with her soft light.

Myrkra Staðr is morphing into something new next year. I am planning more historical inspired collections, bronze age of course ☀️
This year I have been focusing on another aspect of my creative work: fine art woven pieces. I needed time to properly expand on that side of my creativity and took some time away from jewellery making.
Whilst I will be back next year with more collections (and exciting projects), I will slow down on making one-of-a-kind pieces. I started Myrkra Staðr almost 9 years ago and over the years and life changes, realized that it is hard to sustain this way of creating without burning out.

So whilst I slowly find my way to jewellery making again, I'd love for these pieces to find a loving home. For them to bring protection and strength to their wearer, as intended 🌀

Textured handwoven shawl, the Samhain shawl is made with deep blue wool and accents of purple, burgundy and pink.
This was such a pleasure to weave, made with mostly handspun yarn, with variegated colour. It is made entirely from wool, with Swedish wool for the warp and a mix of merino and Corriedale for the weft.
