5 questions to ask any jeweller before you buy.

A diamond is a rare kind of purchase — significant, emotional, and often a first. The right questions turn a leap of faith into a confident decision. Here’s what to ask, whoever you’re buying from.

1. Is the diamond certified, and by whom?
A reputable stone comes with independent certification — IGI or GIA. It’s your assurance that the diamond is exactly what it’s described to be.

2. What are the 4Cs — and can I see them in writing?
Cut, colour, clarity and carat shape everything about how a diamond looks and lasts. A good jeweller will walk you through them, not around them.

3. Can I see the diamond up close?
Through a loupe, you can see a stone’s clarity and cut quality for yourself. Transparency shouldn’t stop at the paperwork.

4. Is this piece customisable?
The most meaningful jewellery is made for you — your setting, your stone, your story. Ask what can be tailored, and what can’t.

5. What happens after I buy?
Resizing, repairs, adjustments over the years — the relationship shouldn’t end at the sale. Ask what’s included, and for how long.
