The October 2026 Craft Fair of the Southern Highlands is now closed. I finished feeling inspired and fulfilled, having made several new connections, and carrying along the reconnections and growing bonds with other artists. The visitors were warm and uplifting, often funny and entertaining as well. The introvert in me is a bit tired, while the other side is exhilarated. Photo courtesy of the guild's photographer.

Well, now that tomorrow's Asheville Art in the Park is postponed due to Isaias, my next event is the Craft Fair of the Southern Highlands. We'll see you next weekend!

Discover the breadth of professional craft at the fall Craft Fair of the Southern Highlands, taking place October 15–18 at Harrah’s Cherokee Center-Asheville. This highly selective, juried marketplace features accomplished artisans presenting original, handmade work across a wide spectrum of disciplines, including jewelry, clay, wood, fiber, glass, paper, metal, leather, mixed media and more. Visitors buy directly from the creators, making the October show a frequent destination for collectors and early holiday shoppers seeking singular, handmade gifts.

Dates: October 15–18
Location: Harrah’s Cherokee Center-Asheville
Hours: Thursday–Sunday, 10:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.
Admission: Tickets are sold at the door for $12 per adult; children under 12 are admitted free.

I'm honored to be one of the exhibiting members.

The Southern Highland Craft Guild’s New Members Exhibition is now open in the Main Gallery of the Folk Art Center, presenting the work of 39 newly juried artisans. Occurring once every two years, this exhibition showcases a rigorous selection of contemporary and traditional Appalachian crafts, highlighting technical skill and original design. Visitors can view a diverse collection of functional, wearable, and decorative pieces, including hand-forged ironwork, hand-woven cane chairs, contemporary jewelry, textiles, and ceramics.

The exhibition runs through January 20, 2027, and the public is invited to attend the opening reception on Saturday, October 24, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM.

The Folk Art Center is located at Milepost 382 on the Blue Ridge Parkway in Asheville, North Carolina. The gallery is free and open to the public daily from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. A digital gallery of the collection is also accessible online at artsvilleusa.com.
