On a recent sourcing trip, Jaron went inside the factories where rough diamonds get their first shape. The highlight wasn't the lasers. It was a machine that uses high-pressure water to hit a stone's weak spot and take off its rough edges.

Back in the day, that was done by hand. A cutter would find the weak point and cleave it off. Now a tiny laser lines up the shot and water does the work.

Same diamond, same billions of years of formation, but a whole new way to bring it to life. ✨

"Am I about to make the biggest mistake of my career?" 💎

My dad spent his life in the natural diamond trade. He bought rough in Antwerp and traveled to the mines himself. When lab-grown diamonds took off after COVID, he'd already been gone for years, and I had to make the call without him.

I didn't know what he would do. Then I heard his voice: "If someone's going to come in and ask for it, we should have it."

That was his mantra. We're here for everybody. It wasn't really my decision. It was his. And it was the right one.
