Amy grew up in the artist community of Laguna Beach, California. While attending Boston University she thought the logical degree would be in Special Education. While teaching and working other office jobs, she couldn't help but feel like there was something missing. It didn't take long for beading to open the door to goldsmithing. Soon thereafter, Amy fully got the "bug" and decided it was time t
o quit "the day job." She apprenticed with a Colorado jeweler, took goldsmithing classes at night, and sold her work to local stores & farmers markets in Vail, CO. Currently, Amy lives and works in Atlanta, GA. Her jewelry designs include mostly sterling silver and 14K gold-filled wire. You can still see the influence of beads in her line, with small accents of precious and semi-precious stones. Her jewelry includes a lot of hammering, while it also has an organic and hand-made feel. Amy’s a working mom, so when it comes to wearing jewelry, she wants to wear something that’s fun and lightweight, yet sophisticated and makes an artistic statement at the same time. What began as a hobby at her dining room table, Throwing Stars Jewelry has become a mainstay at many Atlanta boutiques.
