💡Tip Tuesday

One of the keys to durable clay huggie earrings is properly embedding the post. I use The Clay Impress embedding tool, which requires gently stretching the clay huggie during the embedding process so the tool can reach the stud.

If your clay isn't fully cured, there's a good chance it will crack or break during this step. A proper bake gives the clay the flexibility and strength needed to handle the embedding process and creates a more secure, long-lasting earring.

Sometimes the secret to stronger jewelry happens long before the final assembly.

So I opened the PC color mixer app today to mix a moody witchy color palette (getting ready for the Connecticut Witch Festival in August, not Halloween... yet 😉) and was excited to see you can now choose either Sculpey Premo or Fimo Professional.

I mostly use Sculpey, but since it isn't always easy to find everywhere, I'm happy to see Fimo users finally have a built-in color mixing shortcut too!

P.S. I know I talk about this app a lot and I am in no way affiliated with it, I just like using it for color mixing and have had a few questions about whether or not there is something like this for Fimo and the answer is now yes!

It's always fun to sort through a pile of scraps to see what they make. In this scrap clay Sunday, I had a lot of black, brown, and light clays so I thought I would make three different colors but I didn't like the darker colors that it made so I decided to combine the dark forces resulting in a moody, shimmery neutral that I actually love.

A good reminder that sometimes the best creations come from changing the plan halfway through.

What would you make with these colors?

🐚 Introducing the Cape Cod Sand Collection 🐚

Inspired by summers spent on Cape Cod—collecting seashells at low tide, exploring sandy beaches, and soaking in the coastal charm of New England. Each piece is handmade from polymer clay and features sand from a Cape Cod beach mixed right into the clay for an authentic beach-inspired texture.

Want to see them in person? You'll get the first look tomorrow at the Wild & Abundant Market at The Lucky Gut Collective in Simsbury, CT from 10–4. After that, the collection will be available on my website later this month.

Which pair is calling your name?

Quick Tip Thursday:

Here is another way to clean up the edges of your pieces if you don't want to sand or use acetone on a cotton swab. You can use a craft knife and gently cut off the rough edges of your piece It gives a clean finish very quickly

What's your favorite method of cleaning up your pieces?
