1. On June 19, 1865, Maj. Gen. Gordon Granger came to Galveston, Texas, to inform a reluctant community that President Abraham Lincoln 2 years earlier had freed the slaves and to press locals to comply with his directive.

2. Juneteenth is a Texas-state & as of 2021 a federal holiday celebrated on June 19 that commemorates the end of slavery in the United States. Slavery was an unnecessary stronghold on a race of people - simply because of the color of their skin. (Disgusting)

3. This day should be a day of remembrance and celebration. This day also should reflect a lifestyle of us all - fighting any kind of racial bigotry in our own hearts, in culture, and actively pursue diverse friendships and unity. There is beauty in diversity!✊🏽✊🏻✊🏾🟰
