Life lately has been all about wild flowers and wheat fields and the dogs and working in the greenhouse and hiking local trails and enjoying a bits of slowness here and there.

It’s the final day of the open and I’ll have the workshop open from 10:00 until 5:00 today if you’d like to stop by.

The next statement ring workshop is coming up quick! We’ll be gathering in Bingen this Saturday to craft some stunners and if you’ve been considering joining us there are still open seats. You’ll have an array of beautiful turquoise or jasper stones to choose from and the cost of the class includes all of the tools, materials, and instruction needed to create your own custom handmade statement ring. I’ve been dreaming about making this bolo for nearly two years now. I made my first 3D heron bolo back in May of 24 and ever since I’ve wanted to remake it to see just how far I could push the 3D elements. This one took a lot of planning and patience to get it right and to keep the grasses from balling up into little silver puddles. It was a fun challenge and you’ll definitely see more like this coming in the future. Be sure to swipe all the way through to see the back of the bolo too.

The Marshlands bolo will be on display during the kickoff party this Friday at the from 6:00 until 8:00. If you’re located in the Gorge please consider joining us. If you can’t make the party the bolo will remain on display with them through the 26th.

After that you can come see it at the shop for the open happening May 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. I’ll have .arts.workshop open each day for guests and visitors and I hope you’ll swing by!

Last week I took two wonderful gals through a deep dive into Metalsmithing. We spent five days in the studio and covered everything from proper sawing techniques to soldering, annealing, forming, stamping, layering, mixing metals, filing and sanding, plus getting a nice patina and finishing work. There was lots of problem solving, and a few frustrating moments, but that’s just a reality of this medium and these ladies handled everything I threw at them with grace and determination. Thank you for allowing me to push you just ever so slightly past your comfort zones in order to help you find a new edge.

We made spinner rings, bar studs, decorative studs, mixed metal earrings with sweat soldered layers, handmade paperclip chains AND some beautiful cabochon set pendants. Bravo ladies!!

The next five-day intensive “deep dive” is June 8th - 12th. All of the tools and materials are included in your registration cost and you can expect to finish 3 to 5 pieces of jewelry depending on your own personal progress. Questions? Feel free to inquire any time!

Here are the final offerings of the Fire Horse Collection. Some neck wares in layered silver and turquoise and one strand of bright red-orange glass beads.

I keep thinking about the fire horse and the world and the earth and humanity and my friends and family and the community I live in and my hometown and all of the little towns I've spent time in and all of the massive cities I've been in and of all the interesting and wonderful people I've met in my life, in my work, and in all of my travels. I worry. And I am hopeful.

What can but one person do?

I can create art.

I can create what I think is beautiful and meaningful and I can release it to the world. And maybe someone else will find it beautiful too and they will wear it and that will give it meaning. And maybe some other random person will see them wearing it and compliment it and then those two strangers will share a smile and a brief moment of connection. And maybe that doesn't seem like enough or worth the time it takes to bring a piece of jewelry to life or the insane increasing cost of silver but it's what I can do and if thats the best I can do then that'll have to be good enough.

If the world is only what the world is made of then I'll keep trying to fill it with beauty and love and meaning and community. I hope you find something beautiful in this most recent collection 🫶🏻

A few more pairs of earrings to preview for Thursday.

For this first pair I revisited some of the techniques I learned from my time with and my goodness you can be sure you'll see more of this kind of work coming from me in the future. I think I've been in a bit of a creative rut, repeating the same styles and ideas over and over and just changing out one subject for another. I've longed to stretch my creative legs and discover what else might come through me, and this coming spring feels like the perfect opportunity to let all my wild ideas flow. It's interesting how something as simple as adding texture to metal can spark a new fire. I suppose it 'tis a fire year after all, so here's to letting sparks fly.
