Humbled is the only word I can find to describe the feeling of discovering I made it through the first cut. The past 10 days have shown me that I am surrounded by so much love and support, and that the people in my life genuinely believe that I have a message worth amplifying.
This weekās writing prompt for asked us to reflect on what the Childrenās Miracle Network mission means to me. For me, it means that no family will have to fight alone to get help for their child. Pediatric illness is such an all-encompassing and isolating experience, and no family should ever feel left adrift, or face financial insolvency to help their child. The Childrenās Miracle Network is there for families is their most vulnerable moments, and I am humbled to be able to help raise funds for them. I have two daughters of my own, and I know firsthand what it is like to go up against the medical system to get your kid the care they need. It is exhausting, even when all the players are on the same page. Insurance companies pretend they know whatās best for your family, for your child. Billing departments hope youāll give in and simply pay. The driving, the waiting, the time spent in the middle of the day trying to problem solve insurance, or find providers, schedule appointments around school and life to minimize disruptions. It can feel impossible. But we do it anyway, because our children are our hearts. A mother always fights for their children.
