One of the things I love most about being an appraiser is the privilege of seeing extraordinary pieces of jewelry, each with its own history and story. Some just stay with you. 🩵

Every once in a while, a piece of jewelry speaks to me. And after 22 years in this industry, that doesn’t happen very often.

I recently came across this stunning aquamarine ring while working on a family estate appraisal, and I was completely captivated. Maybe it’s my March birthstone, maybe it’s the timeless elegance of the design, but something about this piece stole my heart.

And the family knows it! 🤭💎

It’s pieces like this that remind me just how special my job really is. ✨

My client came to me with memories of rings worn by relatives over the years—not one specific ring to recreate, but details she remembered and loved from several of them.

We pulled those memories apart and brought them back together in one completely original design.

This one took several months, about a dozen design tweaks, multiple wax models, and even a trip out of state to source just the right matching Burmese rubies.

Every detail was considered until it finally felt right.

The result is one of my favorite things about custom jewelry: pieces of her family’s past, reimagined into a new family heirloom that can continue its own story for generations. ❤️

New toy just arrived. 🔬⚡

I’ve officially added an XRF analyzer to the office. This technology allows me to quickly and accurately identify precious metal content without damaging jewelry, watches, coins, bullion, or estate items.

For clients selling gold, that means greater transparency and confidence. Instead of relying on assumptions, I can verify metal purity and composition in seconds, helping ensure accurate evaluations and fair offers.

For appraisal clients, this technology provides another layer of documentation and accuracy when determining value, identifying metals, and evaluating antique, estate, and modern jewelry.

As a private jeweler and appraiser, investing in better tools means providing better answers, more accurate appraisals, and a higher level of service.

From attending the Jewelers of America 20 Under 40 ch*****ne toast, to sourcing rare Burmese rubies, reconnecting with friends, making new industry connections, and discovering what’s next in fine jewelry, every moment was worthwhile.

There was a little relaxation by the pool, a little Las Vegas nightlife, and plenty of conversations with talented people from every corner of the jewelry world. Events like these bring our industry together, creating opportunities, friendships, and lasting memories that extend far beyond the show floor.

Grateful to be part of such an incredible community and excited to bring new ideas, new connections, and new treasures back to Devine & Co.

This recognition means a lot to me. I started in the jewelry industry in 2003, and over the years I’ve focused on building a career rooted in knowledge, integrity, and truly helping people make informed decisions about their jewelry.

From my early days apprenticing in appraisals to managing a high-end jewelry store in Carmel, to now running my own private office with Devine & Co., it’s been a journey I’m incredibly proud of.

I’ve always believed there’s a better way to work with clients—more personal, more honest, and without pressure. That’s what I strive to create every day.
