Upping my game to show my 13-year-old creator that her 43-year-old mom still has a few bench tricks. 🛠️✨She’s currently in a heavy Weezer era and thinks her indie rock music taste is entirely original, so I decided to fabricate her a custom piece of band history she can’t find anywhere else. 🎸Scored the iconic Flying W logo onto 22-gauge sterling silver using my Cora Hu F1 laser, then took it over to the bench pin to hand-saw it out with a 1/0 blade. Finished it with a raw matte brushed texture to match that 90s garage-rock energy, and rigged it onto a rhodium-plated sterling paperclip chain.Let’s see if this earns me the follow. 😉👇... I’m still here!

But much like where these gold rings are headed, I have been breaking down and refining my life and craft recently. It seems to be a consistent process, and one that I’m honestly not trying to put on socials. And not because it’s scary or major but mainly because I realized that I want to spend the time I have in the studio working on jewelry and not on a computer.

Many of you know I’m the VP of a bustling company external from my jewelry life. I have two kids ages 9-12, am a club soccer mom, Pom mom, and recently started revisiting my basketball era as an almost 42 year old. So yeah, I’m thriving. The studio is open and I fit it in when I can but life has a way of directing you and I am a child of the wind.

dealing with these rings was bittersweet… I was helping an older woman pad her account during a difficult economic time, but in order to do so I had to pull apart some of her family history. I’m thankful to be able to do that and was very thankful that only one stone chipped in removal and it wasn’t the 10.6 ct Aqua 😅. I successfully pulled two bezel set stones out of gold without breaking the opaques and I will call that a win!

Refreshed!

This ring has seen it all in the 20+ years it has been worn and it showed. No worries though, quick chat and plan made - she’s back to life and ready for more!

Often clients tell me that their piece hasn’t looked that good since the day they bought it, and I love hearing that! I do what I can do (and I’m constantly learning!) and whatever I can’t do I utilize a trade shop in the south sound region to help. There’s not much that can’t be accomplished, pooling resources that way.

Finished product!

Here is what the charm looks like on the first chain I ever made (~4 years later it’s still holding on) with a large sterling spring ring. I love this spring ring look and bonus, it’s perfect to be able to change out charms! If you’re Insterested in a similar look, don’t hesitate to reach out!

Definition of private jeweler: set up not so inconspicuously in a beautiful setting to weld on a custom bracelet for someone who is moving across the country next week.
