BREAKING: HUGE NEWS! Zohran Mamdani announces he has completely ERASED New York City’s $12 billion budget deficit that Trump’s crony Eric Adams left him…with ZERO cuts to public services and ZERO new taxes!

When democratic socialist Zohran Mamdani won New York City’s mayoral election on a platform of expanded public programs and investments in our communities, Republicans sneered that he would never be able to pay for it and predicted economic disaster.

Instead, the opposite happened. Mamdani was able to create a balanced budget without any public service cuts and no new taxes on everyday New Yorkers!

“Many said the only way out of this was slashing services and passing an austerity budget. We rejected that,” Mamdani said in a video with the announcement. “Our city is now on firm financial ground.”

He was able to do this by securing $8 billion in new state assistance from the governor’s office and a major tax on second homes valued over $5 million, known as the pied-à-terre tax, that has sent the ultrawealthy into a furious meltdown and evoked cheers from everyone else.

He was also able to secure another nearly $2 billion in savings by making government more efficient by things like reducing overtime, negotiating better rates on outside contracts, modernizing software and technology, consolidating leases, and phasing out programs nobody was using, claiming revenue owed to the city, and better estimating actual expenses.

On top of all that, he restored $2 billion to the city’s rainy day fund and $5.2 billion to the Retiree Health Benefit Trust.

It is a stunning success that completely demolishes both the right-wing’s hysterical fearmongering about Democratic socialist policies and the idea that Republicans are the party of fiscal responsibility.

Under the wildly corrupt Mayor Eric Adams, who was elected a Democrat but behaved and governed like a Republican, the deficit soared to the largest it had been since the Great Recession.

It took just one year for a Democrat to clean up his mess.
