It all Started
Hi my name is Dominique and I am the founder of this unisex natural hair brand - Nappily Happy. I had a head full of hair most of my life. At 13 years old, I got my first perm and it literally burned and weaken most of my edges. That’s when I learned to accept the hair on my head as it. As I grew I use to wear variety of braided hair styles, it my Junior year on high school when finally decided to wear my afro. I remember most of the day a lot of people staring at me but it wasn't until the last class period when I actually heard my classmate call me a nappy headed hoe. That remark made me never want wear my afro again. Through is was my natural hair that indeed grew out my head, my hair wasn’t consider the norm or neither was is acceptable amongst my peers. My first semester of College is when I came into my own identity. I was willing to accept whatever society would label me as I wore my afro big and proud. I became even more empowered seeing other people wear their afro as the natural hair trend continue to grow through out the years. Women and men just allowing their tight coils to flow freely is what inspired this brand. We are Nappily happy with every strand of hair on our heads.
