Mineralogy is a collection of limited edition and one-of-a-kind jewelry designed and handcrafted by Chicago metalsmith, Theresa Cowan. Mineralogy creates unusual statement and heirloom quality pieces that pay tribute to the beauty of natural gems and minerals. Traditional metalsmithing techniques are used with an assortment of metals ranging from brass, silver, 14k gold fill, and solid 14k gold. T

he styles are produced in limited quantities, with each individual piece unique in its own aspects due to nature’s remarkable aberrations.

We're so excited to celebrate Peter and Ashely and show off their stunning custom engagement ring! This ring features a 2.97 ct lab grown round colorless diamond set on a 14k yellow asymmetrical band. Ashley knew she wanted a round cut diamond that was around 3 carats and that she wanted the band to be unique with an asymmetrical quality. She took some inspiration from our Morse Code wedding band that she tried on in store and chose the prong setting of her round and baguette cut accent settings to reflect what she loved about that design. We can't say enough good things about how lovely this custom ring turned out. We love getting to combine all the things clients love to create their dream engagement ring. Congratulations Ashely and Peter! We hope you love this ring as much as we do.

Today we're showing off the custom Paloma engagement ring we designed with Matt for Rose! Rose loved our Paloma design but felt that a custom version with a radiant cut focal stone would be a better match than the emerald cut diamond version we had in store. She loved the sparkle from the colorless diamond and how it was maximized with the brilliant cut faceting of this stone cut. Matt knew Rose's design preferences because they came in together for their initial ring try on appointment, so the couple felt confident that Matt would be able to surprise her with something wonderful! Surprise he did-- Matt picked the biggest and sparkliest of the bunch. Together we opted for some additional adjustments to the sizes of the accent stones to compliment this big and beautiful 5.58 ct colorless lab grown diamond. We're in absolute awe of this finished piece, and great news, Rose is too! Stay tuned for tomorrow where we'll share a special reel with more joyful photos from their proposal. Congratulations Matt and Rose!
