Blue Cat Moon - Connemara Celtic Gems Artisan Jewelry

Blue Cat Moon - Connemara Celtic Gems Artisan Jewelry Celtic jewelry featuring Connemara marble, Rosaries, and artisan jewelry with an eclectic twist. Something for everyone. I lost the bracelet, but gained an idea.

I began designing jewelry in 2001, after a bracelet I had bought broke after I had been wearing it for a short time. Jewelry ought to be well-made and functional as well as pretty. If it isn't well-made or comfortable, it ends up lost or in a drawer. My work isn't meant to be stored away for special occasions; I want you to wear it every day. That's why the materials I use for your finished pieces

are the very best, and why I put my very best craftsmanship into every wire loop, every fastener, every element of design. Good design is meant to be functional. Why Connemara marble? It has special significance to me. My father's people are from Achill Island, Co. Mayo, Ireland, in sight of the hills of Galway where Connemara marble is quarried. It's beautiful material, over 700 million years in the formation, worthy of specially handcrafted settings using the finest materials. I don't see Connemara marble as a "novelty" material; it's Ireland's true national gemstone and increasingly rare, and so beautiful it deserves to be showcased in fine jewelry. Fine jewelry, yes, but at a reasonable price to you. I am always trying to find the compromise between using fine materials and making my prices people-friendly. I use Etsy and similar venues rather than maintain a brick-and-mortar store or sell my goods on an expensive "auction" site. Etsy's business model is in line with my own philosophy -- good work, fairly priced, available to all. Please make yourself at home here. I welcome questions, comments and requests, and will try to accommodate design requests. There is never a design fee here -- I welcome your inspirational ideas and hope we can work together to design "just-right jewelry". Thank you so much for considering my work.

Connemara marble is found exclusively in the West of Ireland, along the rocky, wild shore. It is quarried in the Connemara Mountains near Galway Bay. Varying in color from creamy pale green to shades of sage and moss to nearly black, it is the world's only truly green marble. It has been used for centuries in jewelry making and is often called Ireland's national gemstone. Connemara marble originated over seven million years ago and is becoming increasingly rare.

I'm an Irish-American jewelry designer. My ancestors came from Achill Island, Co. Mayo, and my maiden name was Kelly. Connemara marble holds a great deal of meaning for me -- it represents my heritage. I use Connemara marble, directly imported from Ireland, to create Celtic-inspired jewelry in sterling silver and other metals.

I have here a number of selections of my work, designs that incorporate style, spirit and imagination to create jewelry that is both stylish and meaningful.

If you see anything you like, order from my website. If you have an idea and don't see it here, let me know and we'll see what we can create.
