This is a clip from an episode I put out around the Winter Solstice talking about working with the cycles of nature as a different way to set goals and your own personal rhythms. In celebration of the Summer Solstice, this might be a nice episode to revisit today…lil 22 min boop for ya 🫶

Solstice Blessing my friends 🙏

This week’s guest is Jeff Mount, , author of Seeking Thin Places: How Sacred Travel Heals, Awakens, and Restores the Soul. I first knew Jeff as a larger-than-life Krav Maga instructor, but reading an advance copy of his book revealed a deeply thoughtful and soulful explorer devoted to the inner journey.

We talked for nearly two hours about healing, pilgrimage, spirituality, masculinity, and what it means to pursue a more meaningful life. In a culture that often teaches men to armor up and suppress their emotions, Jeff offers a powerful example of emotional depth, self-awareness, and healthy masculinity.

His book releases August 11 and is available for pre-order now. I have a feeling this won’t be his last appearance on the podcast.

ANNOUNCEMENT 🙏 Thank you for your patience with this week’s episode. Our schedules have been a little upside down as we’ve adjusted to new care protocols for our senior kitty, Maynard. The good news is he’s responding well and has been back to his usual rascal self, which has never made me happier.

For the next few weeks, I’ll likely be releasing episodes every other week so I have more time for editing, these conversations, and sharing the many gems each guest brings to the table. Thank you for being part of this adventure with me.

I will be sharing a new deeply heartfelt episode with my guest and friend tomorrow…running a little behind due to our new care schedule for Maynard.

He’s responding well to the fluids & we are all trying to rally. Thank you for your patience and I cannot wait for you to hear our conversation…much needed this week for me at least 🙏

I heard this Paolo Coelho quote in a tv show the other night and it has stuck with me. Love. Just love. It’s the only answer to every question and when I focus on it, feeling it, giving it, BEing it…all is well. Anything other than embodying the energy of love feels like an unnecessary detour…obviously this isn’t always as easy as we’d like it to be but wow is it a worthy aim.

Thank you to everyone who’s been sending love to our sweet Maynard…so far so good with his treatments…just focusing on being present and grateful for every single loving moment 🙏🩷

Are you alone at the altar with all of the questions of your heart?
Are you trying to say a prayer but you don’t know where to start?
Open your eyes, stare at the sun…
Aren’t you alive? Aren’t you someone?
Stand in the ocean, breathe in the air,
And meet yourself there…

Lyrics from my song ‘Watered Down’.
Photos from my walk at my altar yesterday 🙏

Something I didn’t expect to talk about so personally with in my conversation with @ this week was how we have both navigated our mental health journeys to build a life that honors our souls. Embracing curiosity has been key for both of us; it’s a beacon in the dark that calls you towards the light.

For Christy, this meant starting from scratch in Italy, the country where her family migrated from just two generations ago. Her story is still very much in progress as she is currently building her lore as we speak by sharing her love for slow food (the literal opposite of fast food), sustainable travel experiences, and connecting people to the land and the people who have stewarded it for centuries.

I hope this conversation leaves you feeling more inspired and connected to your own inner wisdom.

All my love.

If you’ve ever traveled somewhere beautiful and thought, what if I just moved here?...this week’s guest did exactly that.

I’ve known Christy Capano , and her family since we were kids, and over the last few years I’ve been completely captivated by the life she’s built in Italy. What started as an opportunity to help renovate a farmhouse in Florence became a complete reinvention of her life. Christy left behind a career in interior design, returned to school in her 40s, earned certifications in Italian gastronomy and a Master’s in Food Studies, and is now creating immersive travel experiences through her business, The Slow Travel Lab (https://www.slowtravellab.com).

This is a conversation about curiosity, courage, and what happens when you choose a life that is aligned with your heart’s calling.

In this episode we discuss:

• Leaving an unhealthy marriage and starting over in Italy
• Reinventing yourself in your 40s
• Following intuition and taking big leaps of faith
• The Slow Food movement and food sustainability
• Ancestry, identity, and reconnecting with your roots
• Going back to school later in life
• Curiosity as a path through depression
• Foraging, herbalism, and reconnecting with the land
• Food diplomacy and how meals bring people together
• The healing power of nature, travel, and community
• Romanticizing everyday life
• Why getting older might be something to celebrate

I left this conversation feeling very inspired. In fact, after talking with Christy about foraging, I wandered into the woods behind our house and discovered an abundance of wild spinach growing everywhere. I’ve been harvesting it for omelets ever since.

As always, thank you for being here. It has been such a joy to share these conversations with you, and I hope they offer a little inspiration, a fresh perspective, or simply a little space to dream for a while.

If this podcast has meant something to you, sharing it with a friend is one of the best ways to help it grow.

From my heart to yours, have a beautiful week.
