This tiny movement is from a ladies Movado....sometime between 1962 and 1969.
The hash marks in the background are millimetres. This movement fits comfortably on my thumbnail.
It’s one of those jobs that once again, stirs my imagination and makes me marvel.
No computers. No CAD-CAM (computer aided design-computer aided machine).
Note even a calculator! I’m guessing that in 1962 it was just pencil, paper and a pocket protector. OK, they probably had a slide rule. (Google it)
Yet someone designed this. Made the mainplate. Drilled holes and placed jewels in exacting positions. Made the tiny wheels to tiny tolerances. Pretty cool, huh?
And apparently 1960’s women had super good eyesight.
Have a great weekend everybody!
