A little mischief today:

Did you ever have someone tell you “You never know when that will come in handy”?

Yeah, I absolutely did not think trying to remove plastic pieces out of an electrified board game would be prep for jewelry making. But the similarity struck me this week while fitting those tiny pieces of solder into place with tweezers, because I dropped one in the wrong place and had to retrieve it WITHOUT TOUCHING ANYTHING ELSE.

(And, seriously, that buzzer ages ago was really loud!)

According to an email I received, today is . I did not know this existed, but it’s on my calendar now!

If you’ve followed me for a long time, you’ve seen in my jewelry making videos that I like my nail polish and nail strips. I use it to put color in my day, but also to protect my nails from damage while I work. 2-3 coats of polish have saved my nails from saw blades, files, sand paper, rotary tools, cleaning solutions and so much more.

And to all my friends out there who are or have been nail technicians or just do their own for fun, you are insanely skilled with those tiny brushes. This was my first attempt - trying to just do some dotted lilacs – and I am awed by how you make the polish move.

My oldest is graduating, so i stepped away from the jewelry studio this week to clean and prep for celebrating. (As stated on Phineas and Ferb as they shoveled the driveway, “It can’t all be fun.”)

But we can make it amusing. I do use the wagon, it’s the perfect size to haul things but limit the load size. And, meet Mike Wysowski the power washer. :)

Next Thursday I’ll be showing my work alongside other area businesses at Prospera Credit Union. Come to the Ballard Rd location between 5 and 7, if you’re in the area. I’d love to say hi to you!!

My iron has been used for many craft projects over the years before becoming a permanent fixture in my studio. It’s worked with t-shirt transfers, t-shirt vinyl, melty bead projects, crayons melted to resemble stained glass, leather straightening, and I have no idea what made all those scratches.

I don’t even know if it heats evenly anymore. Yet, now it’s essential tool in my studio transferring images to etch into copper and sterling.

But I’m telling you right now, you do not want to try my iron to smooth shirts. I guarantee you will not like the results.
