Okay. since you all enjoyed the last Mulan post. I thought I would entertain you more with the debate whether Mulan was Chinese (in the sense that she is Han ethnicity) as depicted in all movies.
In my opinion, the author was imagining a strong northern heroine. But the author wanted her to be relatable to the audience. So she made most of her customs Han -like.
About this project:
My Mulan traditional ink sketches are a series of panels on rice paper painted over a few weeks over summer.
After receiving very luke warm reviews on them, I decided to lock the passion project away and move on. But now I want to continue to finish the paintings again and eventually be able to make it into a book with Chinese ballad + English translation for my son when he can appreciate it.
About me:
I am a full-time dice maker. I often incorporate my paintings in my dice making.
I also sell my art and commissions occasionally when I am not too busy with my dice making.
