A little bit of stressful soldering on a brass prong ring I was creating!

My love for brazing (higher temperature soldering) started years ago when I was a blue collar hvac technician. I spent 16 years brazing in air conditioning compressors and coils, using a much bigger torch, before I started creating jewelry. Now I still love improving my brazing skills and try to use all styles in my work. Pick, chip, wire, sweat, and paste soldering all have there uses and it’s good to be well rounded!

A huge STERLING SILVER & WEST VIRGINIA BANDED AGATE pendant on an 18” sterling silver box chain.

West Virginia Banded Agate, acquired from a small family farm in Lewisburg, set in a very thick sterling silver bezel.

I’ve been dreaming about big and expensive sphere making machines but then I saw an instagram reel of a guy in India creating them with a cheap core bit. Expensive tools are helpful and fun, but it’s good to know how to do the same thing with simple tools in traditional ways.
