A few weeks ago, I got a message from a former colleague who traded Texas skies for out-of-state adventures. We’ve stayed in touch over the years, and when she and her husband started searching for wedding bands, she thought of me.

Now, these aren’t your average bride and groom. They’re members of the 501st Legion, a worldwide fan organization dedicated to creating and wearing screen-accurate Star Wars costumes. He troops as Kylo Ren, and she as Darth Nihilus, so we knew right away that “traditional” wasn’t going to cut it.

After kicking around a few ideas, we landed on something worthy of a galaxy far, far away: their character masks alternating around the entire circumference of both wedding bands. The result is subtle, distinctive, and packed with meaning for them.

For her engagement ring, we tossed the conventional solitaire out the airlock. Since her character's colors are red and black, we chose a stunning 1.66 ct Burmese red spinel as the centerpiece. The stone is bezel-set and suspended between two bands, creating a bold, modern look. Her wedding band nests perfectly inside the engagement ring, locking together into one seamless design.

Projects like this are why I love what I do. These rings aren't just jewelry—they're wearable pieces of their story. Completely custom. Completely unique. And as far as I know, the only wedding set in the galaxy featuring alternating Kylo Ren and Nihilus masks.

I couldn’t be happier with how they turned out, and I hope they enjoy wearing them for many years—and many parsecs—to come.

I had a former colleague that referred one of his friends to me. He was looking for an oval cut diamond with a pear shape on each side. He had a decent budget and said "She wants big". I was able to find a 4.10ct center diamond and we set it in a two tone ring with a pear shaped diamond on each side for a total weight of just over 4,50ct. The diamond was certified and laser inscribed and it turned out great and the look on her face was priceless! Thank you RB for allowing me to be part of your special day.

I was recently contacted by a longtime friend whose diamond had come loose from her wedding ring after more than 25 years of marriage.

Her original ring was a platinum solitaire, flanked by yellow gold bands that had been soldered on each side. She expressed interest in upgrading the ring with a larger center stone while also incorporating several small diamonds from her grandmother’s wedding band.

After careful consideration - and recognizing the sentimental value her ring held - we chose to modify her original ring rather than replace it. We set a 3-carat round diamond in a custom platinum bezel and incorporated eight of her grandmother’s diamonds into the original solitaire band.

The result was a beautifully reimagined ring that honored the integrity of the ring her husband gave her, while giving it a refreshed and more contemporary design.

She absolutely loved the result.
