DIAL FIRST.
Most watches are designed from the outside in.
Case. Bezel. Movement. Dial.
I approach Beck differently.
The dial comes first.
That’s where I establish the depth, structure, light and visual balance of the watch. Only then do I decide what case, hands and other components deserve to surround it.
Because at Beck, the dial isn’t something I use to finish the watch.
It’s where the watch begins.

I’ve spent a lot of time showing the watches.
Not nearly enough time showing the person, process, and decisions behind them.

I’m Carlos Arroyo, founder and watchmaker behind Beck Watch Co. in Texas.

The finished watch is only the final result.
Before that come the experiments. The failures. The prototypes. The rejected parts. The small decisions that sometimes take hours—or months—to resolve.
So I’m going to start sharing more of that side of Beck.

More time at the bench.
More development.
More explanation of why something changed—and sometimes why it didn’t.
Not just what I make.
Why I make it the way I do.

A weekend built around watches, cars, and—more importantly—great conversations.
Wheels | Watches | Wh***ey was an opportunity to spend time with collectors, watchmakers, industry veterans, and people who simply share an appreciation for well-made things.

For Beck Watch Co., weekends like this matter. There is no substitute for putting the watches into someone’s hands, talking about how they are made, hearing their reactions, and learning from people who have spent years around this industry.

A special thank you to Ben of Ben’s Watches for taking the time to sit down with me, handle the watches, hear the Beck story, and share some very thoughtful advice. The conversation continued for hours, and I left with several ideas I intend to put into practice.

Thank you as well to The Gentleman Racer Michael Satterfield , Wheels | Watches | Wh***ey Wheels | Watches | Wh***ey , and everyone involved in putting together such a strong event—and to The Watch Preserve Vintage Watches | Ft Worth, TX for continuing to support the North Texas watch community and giving independent work a place to be seen and discussed.
There were exceptional watches and exceptional cars throughout the weekend, but the conversations were what I’ll remember most.

My wife and I had a great time stopping by The Watch Preserve to celebrate their 3rd anniversary.
I really appreciate the kind words, the interest in what we’re building at Beck Watch Co., and the time spent talking watches with Michael, Jesus and the team.
It means a lot to see independent watchmaking getting this kind of support here in Fort Worth. Looking forward to what comes next.

“Can I do this?” eventually became “Does this actually make the watch better?”

That shift has probably defined the biggest change in the way I approach watchmaking over the past year.

Bold Journey recently invited me to talk about creativity, persistence, learning to change my mind, and the process behind Beck Watch Co. We also went fairly deep into how I think about dial construction, material, light, physical testing, and why Beck remains intentionally small.

It ended up becoming a much more complete conversation about the work than I expected.

Months of designing, machining, testing, wearing and refining have brought Meridian to this point.
The final details are being completed before production begins.

ORDINE — BUILT TO REVEAL ITSELF

Ordine doesn’t give you everything at once.
The dial begins as metal, then is engraved, painted, revealed and finished by hand. Its numerals and central geometry are not applied components—they emerge from the dial itself.

Under changing light, Raw Steel moves between cool silver, warm exposed brass and shadow, revealing details that can disappear again a moment later.
That was always the intention: a watch that rewards discovery the longer you live with it.
