Exclusive West Coast stop, right here in Downtown Livermore! 🐘✨
The Great Elephant Migration has officially arrived at Bankhead Plaza and Stockmen’s Park. This breathtaking public art installation features an intimate herd of life-sized sculptures hand-woven from lantana camara—an aggressive invasive w**d that chokes out native forests and wildlife habitats in southern India.
Crafted entirely by Indigenous artisans (including the Soligas, Bettakurumbas, and Kattunayakan communities), harvesting this w**d clears choked terrain to restore vital natural ecosystems and native wildlife corridors while providing sustainable livelihoods. As part of the global “A Family Gathering” campaign, every sculpture serves as a powerful symbol of human-wildlife coexistence, with proceeds directly funding Indigenous-led conservation projects worldwide.
Take a walk among the herd and experience this extraordinary intersection of traditional craft, and ecological restoration right in our backyard. 🌿
