For every freedom we cherish, someone stood in its defense.
For every flag that waves in peace, someone gave everything to protect it.
And for every generation allowed to dream, build, speak freely, worship freely, and live in liberty, there are Americans who paid the ultimate price.

Freedom has never been free. It has always been carried on the shoulders of men and women willing to give their lives for something greater than themselves.

This Memorial Day, we honor those who never came home.
The brave souls who left behind families, futures, and everything they loved so that this nation could endure.

Their sacrifice is woven into every freedom we enjoy today.
Into every sunrise over this country.
Into every right too often taken for granted.

May we never forget them.
May we strive to live lives worthy of what they gave for us.

Forever remembered.
Forever honored.
God bless America. 🇺🇸

Over the last few days, we have shown how we manufacture our wheels fully in house, right here in the United States.

Where many makers rely on ebauche wheels or stop at simple circular graining, we go further. Each wheel is finished on both sides with hand finished bevels carried all the way through.

This is not surface decoration. The gear train alone carries over 144 internal angles, something rarely pursued at this level because of the time and precision required.

Set inside the finished Montpelier, the result is unmistakable. A picture says it better than anything else.

We are proud to share that Zach Smith has officially joined 1776 Atelier as a co-owner and operating partner.

Many of you already know Zach through Hour Precision. He brings over 15 years of watchmaking experience, alongside one of the most advanced micro-machining environments in the world.

With Zach, these capabilities now sit within 1776 Atelier, bringing us closer to near true vertical integration, something rarely seen in watchmaking today.

It allows us to push movement development forward and pursue complications that genuinely move the needle in haute horlogerie.

We feel incredibly proud and fortunate to call him not just a friend, but part of the team.

Federal Scroll.

This is our newest engraving option. We wanted to provide more detail and greater intricacy. Hand engraved on our in-house made bridges with leaf forms to bring movement into the engraving@ in fine engraving, this is a tradition that has carried through for generations.

This is the pinnacle of métiers d’art available on the Mount Vernon.
Each piece is cut entirely by hand. No two are the same.

This truly bespoke Mount Vernon features completely custom engraving, envisioned by the collector and brought to life by hand across both the three-quarter bridge and balance c**k built around the Eye of Providence at center. Paired with our in-house main plate, it this a powerful example of what is possible at the pinnacle of American watchmaking.

Extraordinarily intricate, this is some of our most dense engraving to date, with an immense number of individual cuts creating a surface that seems to move with the light. The scrollwork takes on a sense of depth and vitality across the metal, while the Eye itself carries remarkable detail despite occupying an area barely larger than two grains of rice placed side by side.

Framed by hand-finished anglage with deep, sharp internal angles and polished bevels brought to a mirror entirely by hand.

A free sprung balance is one of the most demanding components to manufacture in a mechanical watch. Because rate is controlled by the inertia of the balance rather than by a regulator, the geometry, concentricity, and mass distribution must be held to extremely tight tolerances from the beginning. The rim must run true, the mass screws must be uniform and precisely seated, the balance must be carefully poised, and the hairspring must be formed and pinned so it breathes concentrically. Regulation is still performed through timing screws and fine poising, but the margin for error is far smaller, and every step demands greater care in both machining and watchmaking.

This level of discipline is why free sprung balances have long been associated with high horology. Accuracy comes from the intrinsic quality of the oscillator itself.

We are now manufacturing our own free sprung balances in house at 1776 Atelier. More to come soon.

Caliber 917 is the foundation of the Mount Vernon.

It begins with a proprietary main plate, designed to our aesthetics and design specifications and manufactured in collaboration with Hour Precision exclusively for 1776 Atelier.

Machined in Ohio from US sourced material, this main plate forms the core of Caliber 917. Together with its proprietary bridges, now offered with either Geneva stripes or hand engraving, it gives the Mount Vernon one of the highest levels of American made and in house content of any mechanical watch produced in the United States in its category.

This is American watchmaking at the structural level.

Inside the making of Mount Vernon.

This is a brief glimpse into the work behind the movement, from CNC machining through hand engraving, hand applied anglage, and traditional finishing, all done in the United States.

The new bridge architecture was designed to give the finishing more presence. Stronger contrast. Cleaner separation. A clearer interplay between hand engraving or Côtes de Genève, media blasted surfaces, and hand polished anglage.

The result is a movement that carries more depth, more contrast, and a clearer sense of intent in every finished surface.

American Geometric Scroll is the new pinnacle of hand engraving on Mount Vernon.

Building on the legacy of American Gun Scroll, this latest engraving style represents our most elevated expression to date. It is defined by dense, closely cut lines engraved with deliberate depth, creating intense reflections and a surface that comes alive with movement and light.

The photo shown is prior to any galvanic treatment, allowing the engraving itself to stand on its own. Our standard finish remains black rhodium with a contrasting gold balance bridge, though this engraving can also be executed with alternative galvanic finishes including yellow gold, rose gold, and white rhodium.

The geometry is more structured and contemporary, yet the pattern remains fluid and organic, never rigid or mechanical. Every cut is executed by hand, with depth and spacing carefully controlled to produce a modern interpretation of American engraving.

Now available across all Mount Vernon variants.

Mount Vernon is back.

After selling out, Mount Vernon returns refined, improved, and better than ever. Same dials as before but we have completely revised our movements.

For first time, we now offer Côtes de Genève. A finish rooted in high horology, Geneva striping transforms a flat bridge into a living surface. When executed correctly, it captures light, introduces depth, and brings dimensionality to an otherwise planar form.

Alternatively, Mount Vernon remains available with the hand engraving that made it so distinctive, offered in the same three engraving styles that defined its original success. Each engraving option stands on its own, executed with the same level of care and intention.

Across every configuration, satin and fine media blasted surfaces are framed by hand polished anglage, extending along vertical walls with crisp definition. Maintaining perfect separation between finishes is among the most demanding aspects of fine watchmaking, and here each boundary remains sharp and deliberate.

Taken together, Mount Vernon is one of the most configurable and accessible expressions of true high horology, brought back exactly as it was meant to be.
