The rest of the room is still in the explosion stage of redo of the craft/rec room. But the sewing machine I got for Christmas (and haven’t used yet do to me starting this total room redo in January) is finally in its spot. It’s on top of an old wooden bar my grandfather made for my grandmother when they moved into their first apartment because they had no space. Now it’s going to be where I keep all my sewing stuff. Also my grandmother taught me to sew when I was little so after she died in January I rethought my original plans for this bar.

A while back a lady I follow on TikTok gave some advice about handmade quilts. It was “use them! It don’t matter if it’s for a picnic, on your bed, watching TV, as a play mat, etc. Use them. Create memories and love on them. It will mean more to the person who made them if you use them no matter what for than to have them stuck in a closet somewhere never to be touched.” So I decided to use the one my great grandmother made (with a little help from my daddy) today for the first time 🥰.

Mom and I just spent two hours, in the stuffy heat, rolling and maneuvering this roughly 28 year old carpet out of the rec room, through the garage and outside. Almost had to take everything out of the garage together it out. Mom finally decided rolling it end over end would work best😅. Plus she finally got permission to drive dad’s lawnmower so she could move it out of the way😱. Now to finally being able to finish my redo of the rec room. It’s taken MONTHS due to my health and just life challenges 😅.

Finally got around to opening my Christmas present! Been quite ill since we got back from Chicago. Still ill, but I’ve almost got my sleep cycle back on schedule so I celebrated this morning☺️. Still can’t use it yet because I have no thread or fabric 😅, but it’s coming soon. So excited to get back to sewing!!!!
