Immediate need for this weekend: bottled water. (I'm old and my parts are fragile and these are heavy. Every case dropped off is one less PT session for me.)

This is just out of control. If I tried to thank everybody who made this past weekend come together, you would get so sick of reading, you might fall asleep.

Sunday we served, among other things, a large shrimp Creole over rice, 5 large lasagnas, 2 gallons of zuppa Toscana, 6 large salads, 2 large sour cream chicken with paprika and egg noodles, 1 large chicken and rice, 2 hashbrown casseroles, a large apple crisp, sandwiches, sweets, coleslaw, two large cottage pies, one large baked spaghetti, two small pierogi casseroles, macaroni and cheese, garlic bread, green beans...

Among so many other volunteers for Terry's celebration of life, we were joined by some gentlemen from The Greenbriar House at Milton Hershey School. Tim showed up with Ferris, AJ, Leon, Donovan, Manny, and Connor. They were polite. They were fun. They either knew what they were doing or they learned really quick! Their follow-through was on point. When they got done with a task, they cleaned up after that task. They can come back to this kitchen any day! It didn't hurt that some of them called me Miss!

Thanks to those who donated prepared food. As always, much appreciation to Bethany Church of the Nazarene, Country Gourmet at the Market, Panera Bread.

If anyone is missing a pair of glasses, please let me know.

It was a beautiful day to remember our friend, Terry Palmer. Scriptures, speakers, laughter, tears, prayers, and community. We do these things to offer closure for our friends for the friend that we lost. But we also have these celebrations of life so that those of our friends who are left know how special they are and how important their lives are. They are not our clients. They are our friends. Because there's no difference between the people on one side of the table and the people on the other side of the table, we often switch sides. If you look at our serving table, you wouldn't know who is housed and who is differently sheltered. Our friends help us set up and serve every week It's amazing to pull in every Sunday and be welcomed and hugged and hear about what happened to them that week. We were praying for T's brother who was in the hospital with a very high blood sugar and thankfully he was discharged. When I say grace every week, I thank God for the beautiful humans who come out and let us love on them. Thank you to everyone who participated in putting together this celebration of Terry's life. God bless. And Terry, I had a can of Pepsi in your memory.

We are 3 days from our celebration of life for Terry.
If anyone would like to contribute a dish, please contact me and let me know. Anything is fine, honestly!
When you contact me, we can arrange drop off time and location.

❤️To our differently sheltered friends, we will have tables and chairs so that folks can sit and fellowship together. But if you'd like, bring your camp chairs.

40 of these in several different sizes were donated, brand new, by someone who received them for a soccer team bearing the incorrect emblem! The company told him to donate them and he reached out and I met him on Saturday at the church. They are not bulky but very warm, according to some of the 25 people who received these on Sunday. Thank you, Anthony, for the blessing!

Thank you, Bethany Church of the Nazarene for your kitchen, Country Gourmet at the Market and Panera Bread for your food donations,
those who picked up donations, folks like Ashley, Jill, and Rachel and Safa who brought prepared food, and everyone who made donations this week.

We got a new 10x10 canopy. It poured at our second stop on Sunday. We learned something, that you have to get the tarp up right away and in the right direction or else you get a big bubble of water that lets loose and soaks you.

I spend several hours on Saturdays from 1:30 until about 6:00 or 7:00 p.m. shopping for the ingredients at several locations and going to the church and pulling ingredients and sometimes prepping food for the next day like chopping things or making sandwiches. I'm getting old and I need help! If anybody isn't available on Sunday and they're willing to come help on Saturday, please reach out!

Thank you to this week's volunteers: Jerry, Carol, Alex, Kathy, Sarah, Danielle, Marcy, Arleen, George, Tina, Bob, and Molly. It takes a lot of hands to row this boat and I'm thankful for each and every one. That includes our friends who we serve who show up at the back of the van when we're starting to unload and help us get the food on the tables!
