We’re back! Annual Christmas Dinner at Wheeler Mission for Women and Children
For several years, it has been such a blessing to come together during the Christmas season to love on and serve the women and children at Wheeler Mission. We weren’t able to host our dinner last year, so I am especially excited to be coming back this year on December 12th!
We typically serve around 300 women and children, and this night has always been about so much more than serving a meal. It is an opportunity to fellowship, serve, and remind the women and children that they are seen, loved, valued, and not forgotten during the Christmas season.
God has already started providing! We have been blessed with dinner donated by a local chef and flowers donated by a local flower shop to help make the evening special. We are still in need of salad, rolls, desserts and, most importantly, lots of hands to help us serve.
We need volunteers to help decorate and prepare the space, serve dinner, fill and refill drinks, assist throughout the meal, fellowship with the women and children, and help clean up afterward.
We are also collecting new children’s toys so that the moms at Wheeler Mission can shop for Christmas gifts for their children. This has always been one of my favorite parts of this outreach because it gives the moms an opportunity to personally choose gifts for their children for Christmas.
In the past, we have also had groups make homemade Christmas cards and donate special items for the moms. If your church, Bible study, small group, youth group, family, workplace, or organization would like to make cards or donate gifts or encouraging items for the women, they would be greatly appreciated.
After dinner, we will have a worship service with prayer and a Word for those who would like to join us. I would also love to hear from anyone who feels led to help with this portion of the evening.
