My grandmother has been asking me to paint her something for longer than I care to admit! Problem is she can't see pictures well on her phone and she lives 2 hours away.
So a few days ago we went to visit and I took two paintings with me for her to choose from, but I assumed she'd pick this one to keep.
Dottie used to be a wedding florist and still does arrangements for her church and other local events. Most of the time you can find her outside in her garden. While the Delta soil may help some, I've joked that Dottie can simply look at a plant and it will come back to life. Her whole being is green beyond her thumbs 💚💐

Commissions can sometimes be daunting, but this is one I was looking forward to painting as soon as the client reached out! He asked me to combine two of my previous works (the last two photos) and I was 100% up to the challenge. His wife loves wildflowers and this was a gift for her for Mother’s Day 🥹🌻🪻🌸

this year was the best year yet! Saturday was such a fun time full of art, music, good food and so many friends. It makes me so proud of and for this city I call home. People of all backgrounds show up and I think it’s so neat that this event takes place in front of the civil rights museum. Jackson has a long way to go in so many areas but events like this one make me feel so honored to live and work here and be a small part of the growth that is happening. 💗 thank you Jackson. I love you! Thanks for loving me back.

I’m starting January at a very slow pace after a busy few months. So many of you gifted my work for Christmas and I’m so very thankful for you partnering with me and allowing me the freedom to come back to work as slowly as I need to.

This piece is one of my favorite commissions that was gifted to a deserving mom and grandmother! Each of the flowers in this bouquet represents one of her grandchildren 🥹
I count it my highest honor to paint these heirloom gifts for you.

I’ve got a lot on my list of things to come in 2026, but for now, I’m still taking down Christmas decorations and reflecting and dreaming about what 2026 will hold. The main thing being to just keep going. We began a lot of great habits over the last year and I don’t want to lose sight of that with over ambitious expectations.
So for now we winter, we dream, and we remember. Thanks for being here!

It’s been over 7 years since I painted that bouquet and I still grieve and also wonder in amazement how all of this came from that day. The Lord has healed me in so many ways and has turned beauty from ashes. He is the best artist.
